Protect Geauga Parks

Join Protect Geauga Parks for a Conservation Conversation – “Public Lands in Peril” – at West Geauga Public Library, 13455 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.

Guest speaker is Nathan Johnson, public lands director of the Ohio Environmental Council. Find out what is going on in public lands, and what the public can do to help preserve, conserve and protect natural resources.

The event begins with networking and a light breakfast at 7:30 a.m. followed by a program from 8-9 a.m. Hear the personal history and business model that led to success.

Spaghetti Dinner

June 2, 4-6:30 p.m.

Auburn Community Church will host a community spaghetti dinner with homemade sauce and meatballs. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 8-10 years and free for children 7 and under.

Tire Recycling Drop-Off

June 3, 8:30-11 a.m.

Tire recycling will be held for Huntsburg Township residents only. The Passenger Car Tire Drop-Off will be held June 3 from 8:30-11 a.m. at the Huntsburg Recreation Park 17085 Mayfield Road.

Tires may be on or off the rims, but must be dirt and mud free. No exceptions. Grant Funding provided by Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste District.

Perennial Party and Daylily Sale

June 3, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

June 4, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Western Reserve Daylily Society is joining Bremec Garden Center for its annual perennial party and daylily sale at Bremec’s, 12265 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. More than 150 different varieties of daylilies will be available for sale and shoppers will have the opportunity to win a raffle prize of the Ultimate Sacrifice daylily.

The free event includes giveaways and a free perennial workshop on Saturday at 10 a.m. and a free daylily workshop “Let’s Grow Hybrid Daylilies” on Sunday at 1 p.m. Register for both workshops at info@bremec.com.

100 Gun Bash

June 3, 11 a.m.

Ducks Unlimited’s 100 Gun Bash will take place at the Geauga County Fairgrounds, 14373 Cheshire St. in Burton

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

The first guns for the main drawing will be drawn at 1 p.m. and the last will be drawn at 5:30 p.m. Two guns will be given away every five minutes.

Ticket eligible for food, soft drinks, beer and a chance on all 100 guns. Winner need not be present. Food served from 1-4 p.m.

Square Dance

Wool Hollow Fest

Wool Hollow Art and Quilt Fest will be held rain or shine at Chesterland Historical Village located on the corner of Caves and Mayfield roads.

The fest features “the airing of the quilts,” artisans and crafters on the greens, music, food, demos of the spinning and looms, plus so much more.

Speaker Presents Peace Paradigm

June 4, noon

Paul K. Chappell, author, speaker and peace leadership director of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, will speak at Community Church of Chesterland, 11984 Caves Road, Chester Township. He will present “A New Peace Paradigm: Our Understanding of the Peace is Only as Good as Our Understanding of the Human Condition and the Nature of Reality.”

Chappell is a West Point graduate, Iraq War veteran and author of the “Road to Peace” book series.

DTJ Gymnastic Exhibition

DTJ Taborville’s 91st annual gymnastic exhibition will be held at 9850 North Blvd., Chagrin Falls. Performers will range in age from 3 to 77. Czech food will be served beginning at noon. There is a $5 donation at the gate for those over 12. Bring a lawn chair or blankets. No coolers, please.

Bainbridge Historical Garage Sale

June 10, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The annual garage sale hosted by the Bainbridge Township Historical Society will be held in the front yard of the historical museum, 27870 Chillicothe Road.

A variety of goods will be offered, including some furniture. Proceeds help underwrite costs of the museum. The museum will be open during the sale.

Tail-Waggin’ Good Time

June 15

Geauga County Recorder Sharon C. Gingerich and the Totally Dogs 4-H Club will be hosting their ninth annual Tail-Waggin’ Good Time benefit dinner and silent auction for the Geauga County Dog Shelter and the Geauga County K9 Unit at Century Village Historical Museum in the Lennah Bond Building, Burton Village.

Cost is $25 per person for the meal prepared by Guidos Italian Restaurant.

Auction donations are appreciated. Drop them off at the Recorder’s Office, 231 Main St., 1C, Chardon.

PCC Trash & Treasure Sale

June 16-17

Parkman Congregational Church is holding its annual Trash and Treasure Sale at the church located at 18265 Madison Road.

Hours are Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon, when everything is half price. Doors reopen from 12:30-2 p.m. when whatever remains is free.

CV Herb Society Meets

Geauga Ice Cream Social

Geauga County Farm Bureau will host its annual ice cream social, with American Red Cross Blood Drive, at Junction Buick GMC, 12423 Ravenna Road, Chardon.

Enjoy grilled hot dogs and ice cream for all members of the family as well as donate blood to save lives. There will be drawings, music, member benefit updates and a bounce house.

Lake-Geauga Recovery Center will hold its 13th annual golf outing at Wicked Woods Country Club, 14085 Ravenna Road in Newbury Township.

Flea Market Vendors Wanted

Auburn Community Church, 11076 Washington St., is hosting an outdoor flea market Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rain date is Aug. 12.

Vendors and individuals wanting to have a garage sale are encouraged to participate. Spaces are 25 feet wide and deep enough for tables as well as two standard-sized vehicles. Vendors must furnish their tables and chairs and to clean out the site at end of sale. Cost is $25 per space.

Greens for the Greenhouse

Aug. 14

Lyndhurst Lumber will host the first annual Friends of WomenSafe golf outing, “Greens for the Greenhouse” at Fowlers Mill Golf Course, 13095 Rockhaven Road in Chester Township. The scramble begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Cost is $100 golfers and includes a light breakfast, driving range privileges, soft drinks and/or beer throughout the day, hole games, 50/50 raffle, prizes, lunch and appetizers at the end of the day.
