July 15, 12-4 p.m.

Newbury Community Picnic will be held at Oberland Park on Auburn Road in Newbury Township. Join in fun for the whole family including food, children’s activities, music, health screening by UHHS Geauga, GCPL Book Mobile and Newbury Volunteer Fire Department trucks on display. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket.

Hidden Lakes Beach Party

July 15, all day

Hidden Lakes Family Campground Beach, 17147 U.S. Route 6 in Montville, will host a beach party with Cat Casey from The Cougar. Enjoy food, music, two fishing lakes, one swimming lake, pool and vintage fire truck rides.

The campground will also host a Christmas in July celebration on July 22 with music, food, holiday decorations, Santa and vintage fire truck rides.

Strawberry Festival

July 18, 5:30 p.m.

Enjoy a sandwich supper with strawberries, ice cream and cake at the Claridon Park located at state Route 322 and Claridon-Troy Road. The Geauga County Fair Band will perform at 7 p.m.

The free event is sponsored by the Claridon Congregational Church and Claridon Community Helps. Donations collected will be donated to the church.

Aquilegia Garden Club

July 20, 10:30 a.m.

Aquilegia Garden Club will meet at Christ Presbyterian Church in Chester Township. OSU Extension Master Gardener Phyllis Mihalik will speak on phenology, a segment of ecology focusing on the study of periodic plant and animal life-cycle events that are influenced by climate and seasonal change in the environment.

A brief meeting will follow the presentation and lunch will be provided by club members.

Chardon Kiwanis Food Drive

July 21, 7-9 p.m.

The Chardon Kiwanis Club will be accepting donations during the Concert in the Park on Chardon Square. Donations can be brought to the donation table and may include nonperishable food items, toiletries and cash. All donations will be given to the food pantry at the Pilgrim Christian Church.

People are encouraged to come out to enjoy contemporary Christian genre by Reign Forecast.

Chardon VFW 6519 Events

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will host Taco Wednesdays every Wednesday in July from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Enjoy soft or hard tacos for $1 each or taco salad for $2.

It will also host summertime happy hours Monday through Friday from 2-5 p.m. Enjoy discounted beer, wine and specialty drinks. See the canteen staff for information.

Munson Community Day Picnic

July 15, noon

Munson Township’s annual Community Day Picnic will be held, rain or shine, at the town hall, 12210 Auburn Road. A fun day is planned for the entire family with a light picnic lunch, food vendors, music, Euclid Beach Rocket Car rides, rock climbing wall, raffles, games and activities.

Huntsburg Grange Concert

July 15, 6 p.m.

Fort Huntsburg Band will perform at the Huntsburg Grange concert in the bandstand at the corner of routes 322 and 528. There will be international food and a church bake sale.

Geauga Dems Plan Summer Events

The Geauga County Democratic Party has planned several summer events for the community.

First will be the annual picnic on July 16 from 1-4 p.m. at West Woods Park. Bring a dish to share.

The monthly hot topic Changing Faces and Cases – Elections Matter When it Comes to the Judicial Branch, Too!” is on July 20 at the Geauga County Democratic Headquarters and Social Hall located at 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. for networking and desserts and the hot topic begins at 7 p.m. Judge Terri Stupica and the Honorable Mary Jane Trapp will discuss recent and future Supreme Court decisions and the crisis of opioids and heroin on local court systems.

The annual steak roast is Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. at the headquarters. Call for reservations.

Concert in Claridon Park

July 18, 7 p.m.

The Great Geauga County Fair band will be performing in Claridon Township Park on the corner of Mayfield and Claridon Troy roads.

A Claridon Community Helps will provide a community picnic dinner before the concert from 5:30-7 p.m.

Lake Health Auxiliary Fundraising Sale

July 19, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lake Health Auxiliary is hosting a large summer gift shop sale to benefit the auxiliary. Sales held in the lobby at TriPoint Medical Center, 7590 Auburn Road, Concord and West Medical Center, 36000 Euclid Ave., Willoughby.

Divine Word Rummage Sale

July 20-22

Divine Word Church is holding a rummage sale at 8100 Eagle Road in Kirtland. Sale takes place July 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and July 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Early birds welcome July 19 from 6-8 p.m. for a $25 donation at the door. CV Herb Society Field Trip

July 21

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will take a field trip to Kent State Draime Estate Gardens in Warren to have a guided tour of the diverse garden designs and sculptures. Reservations are required and the fee is $10.

Protect Geauga Parks

July 22, 2 p.m.

Protect Geauga Parks will host a Shelter Sound-Off and Geauga Parks birthday celebration at Walter C. Best Preserve, Sunset Shelter, 11620 Ravenna Road, Chardon.

A short discussion will be facilitated to allow time for all who want to make a comment. Cards will be available to write comments.

Get an update on recent statehouse events and the group’s two wins in Columbus.

Happy Tails Benefit

July 22, 5-8 p.m.

A benefit to raise funds for Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary and celebrate “35 Years of Rescue” will take place at the American-Croatian Lodge, 34900 Lakeshore Blvd in Eastlake.

Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person and will be held at the door.

The event includes a family-style at 6 p.m. and access to a silent auction and raffles. A cash only bar will be available for alcoholic beverages.

It’s a Baby Life Run

LIFE Runners International is sponsoring a 5K/10K LIFE run and 1-mile walk to support Birthright Geauga. The race begins from the Birthright Geauga plaza parking lot located at 209 Center St., Chardon.

HomeGrown Geauga

Aug. 19, 5:30-9 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale for Geauga Growth Partnership’s fifth annual HomeGrown Geauga fundraising event at ASM International in Russell Township.

The evening features fine food by signature chefs, open bar, entertainment, music by No Moss, silent auction, raffles and a virtual reality journey.
