Flea Market On The Greens

Aug. 19, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Chesterland Historical Village hosts the 30th annual Flea Market On The Greens where bargain hunters can find antiques, fine collectibles, doll clothing, tools, glassware, vintage jewelry, Rogish Farms fine cut flowers, hybrid lilies from Great Expectations, home decor, repurposed furniture and more. The event also includes food and music.

The village is located on the corner of Caves and Mayfield roads in Chester Township.

Scrap Tire Collection

Aug. 19, 9 a.m. to noon

Russell Township will host its annual scrap tire collection event at the township road garage, 15625 Chillicothe Road.

A maximum of eight tires per household will be accepted. Tires must be dry and off rims. Passenger tires and light truck tires only.

Limited to Russell Township residents only. No business or commercial drop off.

Auburn Benefit Car Show

Aug. 19, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Auburn Benefit Car Show will take place at 9835 E. Washington St., Auburn Township and will feature hundreds of vintage and late-model vehicles, along with live DJ performance by DJ Xtrav’s Luke Jourdian.

Children’s activities will include animal balloons, free snow cones and face painting. There will also be a variety of prizes and giveaways.

All proceeds will benefit the National MS Society.

Corn Hole Tournament

Aug. 19, 2 p.m.

Middlefield VFW Post 9678, will host a corn hole tournament at the post located at 16013 E High St. Tournament is double elimination with a blind draw.

Entrance fee is $20, with 50 percent of proceeds going to the winner and 25 percent to second place. Event also includes a 50/50 drawing, food and cash bar.

HomeGrown Geauga

Aug. 19, 5:30-9 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale for Geauga Growth Partnership’s fifth annual HomeGrown Geauga fundraising event at ASM International in Russell Township.

The evening features fine food by signature chefs, open bar, entertainment, music by No Moss, silent auction, raffles and a virtual reality journey.

Tickets are $125 per person ($75 tax deductible). To order tickets, call 440-564-1060. All net proceeds benefit GCP’s youth workforce programs.

Next Step Reverse Raffle

Aug. 19, 7-11 p.m.

The third annual Next Step Reverse Raffle will be held in the Bond Building at the Geauga County Historical Society, 14653 E. Park St. in Burton. Tickets are $60 per person and include dinner, wine, beer, cash bar and music. Side boards available and grand prize is $3,000. There are only 200 tickets being sold.

Sponsored by Geauga Kiwanis Clubs, proceeds benefit Next Step, a community-based program providing housing in Middlefield and case management services for Geauga County adults 18-24 who are homeless and at risk.

Chicken Dinner and Car Show

Aug. 20, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  1. Edward and Lucy Parish will host the ninth annual Chicken Dinner and Car Show, rain or shine, at 16150 Center St. in Parkman. Event features classic cars and trucks, Chinese auction, raffles, bingo, DJ Cory and family horse racing.

Tickets for the barbecue chicken dinner are $11 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under.

Donation of $10 requested for car show entries. Goodie bags and dash plaques given to first 100 cars. Three prizes will be awarded along with a $200 gas card, compliments of Best Funeral Home. Drawing at 4 p.m. Winner must be present. Door prizes awarded every 15 minutes.

OPERS Retirees Meet

Aug. 23, 11 a.m.

The Geauga County Public Employee Retirees, Inc. Chapter 86 (PERI 86) will meet at St. Mary’s Church, 401 North St., in Chardon. Lunch is $12, payable at the door.

Speaker is Rick Lawrence, PERI District 10 representative. He will provide helpful information on dealing with “Pesky Paperwork.”

Metzenbaum Art Show

Aug. 24, 3-6 p.m.

The Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (GCBDD), in partnership with Ravenwood Health, will host its annual art show in the Metzenbaum Center, 8200 Cedar Road in Chester Township. Attendees can purchase artwork created by local artists and artists served by the GCBDD. Anything earned by the artist is theirs to keep.

Geauga Dems Discuss Issue 2

Aug. 24, 6:30 p.m.

The Geauga County Democratic Party will host its monthly hot topic at the Geauga County Democratic Headquarters and Social Hall, 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury. Dr. Mark Rood, of Bainbridge, will dissect Issue 2. Hear the facts about the Ohio Drug Price Relief Act.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for light appetizers and dessert and the hot topic at 7 p.m.

Food Pantry Open

Aug. 25, 10 a.m. to noon

The Food Pantry at Chester Christian Center Church will be open to the community. The pantry is open to anyone who is in need of food. One does not need to be a member of the church to attend.

Chester Christian Center is located at 11815 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

Community Fishing Derby

Aug. 26, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Munson Township’s Community Fishing Derby is open to all Munson Township residents at the Scenic River Retreat, 10900 Mayfield Road. Bring a fishing pole. Catch and release only; bait will be provided. Door prizes awarded.

Century Village Trunk Sale

Aug. 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Vendors will be set up “parking lot” style around the roads of Century Village Museum in Burton. For more information, call 440-834-1492.

Scouts On The Square

Aug. 27,1-4 p.m.

All families and children are welcome to come celebrate Scouting in the Chardon area on the south lawn on Chardon Square. Visit with local Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops and Venture Crews.

Visit all of the units and earn a commemorative patch. The event is free to the public.

Munson Twp. Flea Market

Sept. 9, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Munson Township’s annual indoor/outdoor flea market will be held at the Munson Town Hall, the fire station bay and outside town hall located 12210 Auburn Road, Chardon.

Vendor spaces are $20 each and sell out quickly. Admittance fee for shoppers is $1.

Chardon Rubber Reunion Picnic

Sept. 9, 1-4 p.m.

The eighth annual Chardon Rubber Employee Reunion Picnic will be held at Walter C. Best Preserve on State Route 44 in Chardon. Bring a dish to pass and lawn chairs.

There will be a 50/50 raffle and Chinese auction. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Monetary donations are needed for continuation of the yearly picnic. Donations of items for Chinese raffle appreciated.

Family Pride Comedy Night

Sept. 9, 5:30 p.m.

Stand Up for Family Pride Comedy Night takes place at Notre Dame Education Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon.

A fundraiser for Family Pride, a local nonprofit that provides counseling and support services for children and families in Geauga, Lake and Ashtabula counties, the event features Liz Russo and a second comedian, hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, raffle and Chinese auction.

Auburn FD Clam Bake

Sept. 9, 6-8:30 p.m.

The Auburn Fire Department is hosting its annual clambake and Chinese auction at the newly renovated fire station.

Regular bake dinner costs $30 and includes a dozen clams, half a barbecue chicken, corn, yams, coleslaw, roll and beverages. Extra clams will be available for $10 per dozen, as well as hot dogs and chips for the kids.

There will also be entertainment and a 50/50 raffle to benefit the fire department. The Auburn Firedevils will have cookbooks available.

Woofstock 2017

Sept. 10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Rescue Village’s annual Woofstock festival and fundraiser will be held at Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field. Event features adoptable dogs, live music, kick off parade and best look contest, Cleveland Browns watch party, senior dog Olympics, dog games and contests, blessing of the animals, vendors and food trucks.

Registration is $25 for individuals 15 and older. Youth 14 and under are free

Bingo For Scholarships

Sept. 16, 5 p.m.

The American Legion Auxiliary of Post 459 in Burton will be holding a Bingo fundraiser at its hall located at 14052 Goodwin St Burton. There will be food available.  We will also be having a raffle with cash prizes.  Great prizes and lots of fun.

Chefs Unbridled Tickets on Sale

Tickets are on sale for Chefs Unbridled, a tasting dinner to benefit Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center’s ridership program. The dinner, prepared by 10 of the area’s top chefs, will start at 6 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Chagrin Valley Hunt Club Polo Field, 7620 Old Mill Road, Chagrin Falls.

Tickets begin at $140 and include a tax-deductible donation to the center.
