Burton Public Library is looking for entries for the 2017 Burton Art Show to be held Oct. 3-15. Artists 16 years and older who live, work or attend school in Geauga, Lake or Portage counties are invited to submit their work at the library located at 14588 W. Park St. in Burton.

Judges are Mary Urbas in the art and 3-D art categories and Linda Bourassa in the photography category.

Entry fee is $10 per item, or three for $25. Artists may submit up to three works.

Entry forms are available at all public libraries and also online at burtonlibrary.org.

Words and Wine

Oct. 3, 6:30 p.m.

Child psychiatrist Chuck Joy from Erie, Pa., will be the featured poet at the next gathering of Words and Wine, 792 Mentor Ave., Painesville. He will be reading selections from his latest book titled “Theme of Line” following an open mic for poems.

Benefit Choir Recruiting Voices

The Good Tidings Benefit Choir is recruiting voices for the 28th annual free holiday concert for the Geauga Hunger Task Force.

Practices start Oct. 8 for the first section on Handel’s “Messiah” plus other Christmas music at the Sisters of Notre Dame Chapel, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson Township, and will be held Sundays from 2-4 p.m.

The choir is open to high school students and older. Bring a copy of the score or there will be copies available for approximately $8. Solo auditions will take place during the practices. The Christmas programs are Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 3 at 3 p.m.
