Deathtrap Opens Sept. 29 at GLTG

It’s the right time of the year for a little suspense and laughter, and Ira Levin’s “Deathtrap” at Geauga Lyric Theater is the right choice for an autumn evening.

The second show in GLTG’s 2017-18 season, it is an intimate story with a five-person cast. Sidney Bruhl, played by Jack Warren, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a dry spell. In looking over a script from a college student (Cameron Zona), he recognizes a possible Broadway hit, and devises a plan to make the success his. Add his wife Myra (Civia Wiesner), psychic Helga ten Dorp (Emily Stack) and attorney Porter Milgrim (Winn Douglass) and the plot becomes convoluted.

The show will run weekends Sept. 29 through Oct. 15. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday performances are at 2 p.m.

Tickets for “Deathtrap” and the rest of Geauga Lyric Theaters season are on sale at www.geaugatheater.org, and can also be purchased by calling the office at 440-286-2255.

New this season is Backstage Bistro. In association with Chowdown Catering, the second Saturday of each production will have a themed meal at the Geauga Lyric Arts Center at 106 Water St. at 6 p.m. before the performance. Cost will be $15 for adults and $10 for children; show tickets are not included. For more information, call the box office.
