The League of Woman Voters of Geauga County will hold its annual meeting at Munson Town Hall on Auburn Road.

LWV Hosts Annual Meeting

Sept. 28, 7 p.m.

The League of Woman Voters of Geauga County will hold its annual meeting at Munson Town Hall on Auburn Road.

Agenda will include election of officers, financial report and updates about plans for the Voters Guide and Candidates Nights.

Audubon Visits Mentor Birding Hot Spots

Sept. 30, 8 a.m.

Blackbrook Audubon will meet at the farthest eastern parking lot of Headlands Beach State Park, closest to the Headlands Dunes State Nature Preserve, to search for birds as they start their fall migration. If the main drive at Headlands Beach is closed, use the fishing access. Other stops will include Lake Metroparks Veterans Park and Wake Robin Trail at Mentor Marsh.

Newbury Kiwanis Clambake

Sept. 30, 6:30 p.m.

Newbury Kiwanis will hold its annual clambake at the Rookery.

Square Dance

Sept. 30, 7-9:30 p.m.

The North Bloomfield Historical Society will host a square dance at the town hall located at routes 45 and 87. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is $5 per person. For more information, call 330-506-3370.

Canine Conditioning, Rehab Workshop

Oct. 1, 12-4 p.m.

Dr. Kathy Topham, a veterinarian who specializes in canine sports medicine and rehabilitation, will present a canine conditioning and rehab workshop at Cold Nose Companions, 12531 GAR Highway in Chardon.

She will share insights on avoiding and recovering from injuries. Owners will learn the basics of canine conditioning and fitness to prevent problems, as well as what to do if their dog experiences pain or injury.

This workshop is suitable for pet owners, as well as professionals. Cost is $60.

Veterans Appreciation Dinner

Oct. 5, 6:30 p.m.

Burton Chamber of Commerce is honoring all veterans at its monthly dinner being held in Post 459 Hall. Social hour is 6:30 a.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

The complimentary dinner for veterans and their guests is being provided by Smith’s Restaurant. Enjoy pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, biscuits, cold slaw, macaroni and cheese and desserts.

Geauga Growth Partnership and Kent State University at Geauga will sponsor “21st Century Manufacturing – Impact & Opportunity” at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (G.E.L.) breakfast at KSU Geauga, 14111 Claridon Troy Road in Burton.

Hear the story of The Technology House (TTH), who nearly 20 years ago was on the leading edge of 3-D printing. Today, TTH is at the forefront of 3-D printing having been selected as one of five companies nationwide to beta test carbon MI printers.

Annual Turkey Dinner

Oct. 7, 4-6:30 p.m.

Huntsburg Congregational Church will hold a traditional turkey dinner at the church located at 12435 Madison Road.

Cost is $11 for adults, $9 for seniors 65 and older, and $6 for children ages 5-10. Children under 5 are free. Carry out is available. Tickets will be sold at the church beginning at 4 p.m.

Chinese auction tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

A Knight at Sharon James

Newbury Black Knight Parent Association presents the fourth annual “A Knight at Sharon James” at Sharon James Cellars, 11303 Kinsman Road in Newbury.

A dine to donate event, a portion of each meal cost will go back to Newbury Local Schools. Event includes raffle prizes, Chinese auction and 50/50. No tickets required.

Taste of Bainbridge

The annual Taste of Bainbridge affair will be held at the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club. Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. plus raffles and games. More than 20 area eateries will serve their special delicacies.

Tickets are $40 per person. Proceeds benefit Bainbridge Area Food for Friends, student scholarships and other community activities.

Geauga Dems Clambake

Join the Geauga County Democratic Party for its annual clambake at the county headquarters and social hall located at 12420 Kinsman Road in Newbury. Ohio District 99 Representative John Patterson will provide updates on education, local parks and other insider tidbits.

Help for the Homeless

Oct. 7, 6-9 p.m.

The annual fundraiser dinner and program for Geauga Faith Rescue Mission (GFRM), a homeless shelter project in Geauga County, will be held at the Notre Dame Education Center Auditorium, 13000 Auburn Road in Chardon. Tickets can be purchased by mailing $75 per person to GFRM, P.O. Box 823, Chardon or online at www.gfrmission.org by clicking on the Events link.

The evening includes live music with dinner, a video presentation, informational speakers and silent and live auctions. Guest speaker is Gerry Grim, chief operating officer at Edwins Leadership & Restaurant Institute.

Fall Fest

Fall Fest will be held on historic Chardon Square. The evening will include s’mores, sponsored by the Chardon Area Rotary; scarecrow making, sponsored by the Chardon Area Kiwanis; a balloon artist, sponsored by the Chardon Square Association; hot drinks, sponsored by Sheetz; and DJ music, sponsored by the City of Chardon. In addition, there will be free hot dogs, cider and roasted marshmallows.

Chili Cook Off

There will be a chili cook-off to benefit United Way Services of Geauga at Kent State University at Geauga, 14111 Claridon Troy Road in Burton.

CV Herb Society Meets

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library. After refreshments and a business meeting at 1 p.m., there will be a demonstration and workshop on making potpourri presented by the potpourri garden committee headed by Ann Sekerak.

Flying Club Hosts Swap Meet

Geauga Radio Controlaires is hosting the sixth annual Jim Gardner Memorial RC Model Swap Meet at the Mentor Beach Park Pavilion, 7779 Lakeshore Blvd. in Mentor-on-the-Lake.

Eighty exhibitor tables of radio controlled planes, helicopters, quadcopters, cars, boats, radios, tools and accessories will be displayed for sale, barter and trade by regional modelers.

Admission is $5. Youth 11 and under are free. Hot food will be available. Parking is free.

Master Gardeners Offer Free Class

Oct. 21, 10 a.m. to noon

Geauga Master Gardener volunteers are offering “Gardening for Free/On a Budget: Gardening RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” at the OSU Extension Office, Patterson Center, 14269 Claridon-Troy Road, Burton.

Learn how to feed one’s family for less by growing an RRR vegetable garden by getting free seeds, plants, compost and DIY containers. Class will also include information on monarch butterflies.

Vendors Sought for Shopping Fair

Nov. 18, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Auburn Firedevils, auxiliary to the Auburn Volunteer Fire Department, is hosting its sixth annual arts, crafts and consultants fair at Adams Halls, 11455 Washington St., Auburn Township.

The group is seeking vendors for the event. Tables are $25 each. Tables and chairs are provided. There is ample parking.
