Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 25-28, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 238 calls during this period.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Sept. 26
2:59 p.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Caller states his bird feeder was destroyed, he believes a human may have destroyed it. Dispatch advised him it may have been a bear, he insists it wasn’t. Would like to see a Deputy. Deputy observed one large bird feeder, which was pushed over. A second bird feeder was located in the woodline. That bird feeder was found to have teeth marks on it. It was discovered the bear in the area likely caused this damage.
SUSPICIOUS
Sept. 25
5:41 p.m., Sperry Road, Newbury. Female discovered a tracking device on her vehicle on Sept. 20th. She removed the device and has it on her person. She believes she knows who placed it there. She would like to speak with a Deputy.
Sept. 26
6:52 a.m., Jug St., Troy. Grey Kia, possibly a Sorento is sitting in the Valley around 7:20 every morning. A school bus driver tried to talk to the elderly male occupant once, but he wouldn’t engage in the conversation and was very short with her. Bus driver would like us to check the area during this time. Male appears to be reading the paper, but seems suspicious that he comes each day at the same time. Deputy spoke with the driver of the vehicle, who is an Amish taxi driver waiting to pick up.
Sept. 27
12:34 p.m., Oak Drive, Newbury. Silver Dodge pickup with an old refrigerator selling out of the back of his truck. A Deputy should check his credentials. Guy said he came from Florida’s Hurricane and feels the meat might be spoiled. Deputy looked for two males trying to sell meat out of a tan Dodge. Unable to locate.
Sept. 27
3:47 p.m., Kile Road, Hambden. Caller has been noticing a stranger has been using her trashcan and she would like to make a report. Deputy spoke with the complainant. She advised she has not seen anyone place trash in her can. A piece of paper she retrieved from the can had a name and phone number. Deputy called that number and spoke with a male. Male denies and is unsure why that paper was in her can. Complainant requests extra patrol in her neighborhood.
