Cecil Frank Hinkle Jr.
Hinkle Jr., 61, of Taylor Wells Road, retired after 30 years as a manager with the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he organized roadwork, planned projects and kept the budget within ODOT guidelines. He is a graduate of Berkshire High School.
Road maintenance is an issue Hinkle said he expects to address.
“Our largest challenge at this point is getting the township budget in shape to have monies to pay for road projects that are needed, and not selling off equipment that will have to be replaced later at a larger expense,” Hinkle said, adding his retired status is an advantage. “I will be available during the day to respond to our customers.”
His goals are the budget, the roads and staying vigilant with township concerns, he said.
He also said the township should not waste funds by outsourcing services.
When he worked for ODOT, Hinkle said he made customers’ concerns an important part of the daily process, took care of complaints and work orders in a timely fashion and worked closely with law enforcement and other public entities.
“With this position, I expect better for our customers in the township,” he said.
Jonathan Tiber
Tiber, 47, is a graduate of Berkshire High School and designs mid- to high-end master bathrooms for Studio 76 Kitchens & Baths in Twinsburg.
Tiber has lived in Claridon Township since 1978 and many members of his family have built or bought homes in the area.
“I’m running for trustee for the honor of serving the good people of Claridon Township,” he said.
He is youth director at New Testament Baptist Church in Claridon and helped start Geauga Faith Rescue Mission, a future shelter for Geauga County’s homeless and needy.
Tiber said he knows how to budget, but listening to different perspectives before making decisions is also important.
He said the trustees’ challenge is to maintain township roads, buildings, cemeteries and parks within its resources and finances.
His goals include maintaining safe roads, finding the best way to maintain the township without compromising integrity and safety, and to serve with other trustees and for residents, respectfully and diligently.
As a designer, Tiber said he always keeps his customers’ budget in mind without sacrificing the integrity of design, workmanship or material.
“Almost all my business comes from former clients either by referral or a second project. I consider it an honor for someone to put their trust in me, therefore, I treat their money and their project with reverence,” he said.
