The Atwood-Mauck American Legion Post 459 will participate in a Veterans Day program at Burton Elementary School on Nov. 9 at 9 a.m.
On Nov. 10, there will be programs at Jordak Elementary School at 8:30 a.m., Newbury Elementary School at 9 a.m. and Timmons Elementary School at 10 a.m.
Then, on Nov. 11 from 4:30-7 p.m., Post 459 will host an open house and soup and chili dinner at the legion home located at 14052 Goodwin St. in Burton.

Gift Of Magi Boutique
Nov. 10-11
A preview party for the annual Gift for the Magi holiday boutique will be held Nov. 10 from 7-9 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township. For adults only, the $5 admission includes preview of the boutique, music, hors d’oeuvres and wine.
The boutique runs Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features handcrafted items by more than 35 juried crafters. Admission is free. Featured this year is a quilt raffle; tickets are $2 each or three for $5.
Join the Boutique Bounce on Nov. 10 and 11 by also shopping the boutiques at St. Anselm Church, 13013 Chillicothe Road in Chester, and Old South Church, 9802 Chillicothe Road in Kirtland. Shoppers who visit the three boutiques will be eligible for one of three grand prizes. Begin the bounce at any of the churches and get the card stamped at each location. Drawing will be held Nov. 12.
Christmas Boutique
Nov. 11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
St. Anselm’s Women’s Guild will have their annual Christmas Boutique at St. Anselm Church, 13013 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.
The boutique features more than 80 area vendors, a snack bar, bake sale and prize raffle.
Admission is $1 and includes one raffle ticket.

Free Coffee for Veterans
Nov. 11
In honor of Veterans Day, all veterans are invited to stop in for a free cup of coffee at Arabica, 12626 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.
Community Thanksgiving Dinner
Nov. 11, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Mayfield United Methodist Church will host a community Thanksgiving dinner in the church’s fellowship hall, 7747 Mayfield Road in Chester Township.
Cost is $10 for ages 11 through adult and $5 for children ages 5-10. Dine-in only dinner is free for children under 5.
Tickets available at the door. Takeout orders are $10.
Proceeds will benefit the church outreach ministries.

Chardon VFW Post 6519 is hosting a Veterans Day Dinner at the post located at 752 Water St.

Pancakes at the Grange

Hambden Grange 2482 is serving an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with maple syrup, corn fritters, fruit, sausage, juice, cocoa and coffee at 9778 Old State Road, Chardon.
The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under.
Heroes Of Conservation Awards
Nov. 12, 2:30-5 p.m.
Protect Geauga Parks will host the third annual Geauga Heroes of Conservation reception in the community room of Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road.
The reception will honor two conservation heroes – Dr. James Bissell and The League of Women Voters of Geauga County – along with the first presentation of the Protect Geauga Parks Bob McCullough Conservation Scholarships.
The event will feature music, poetry and refreshments.

Hambden Explorers Open House

Hambden Fire Explorers open house will take place at 9867 Old State Road in Chardon.
Everyone is welcome. The event will feature walking tacos, a bake sale, fire trucks, equipment demonstrations, pictures with Sparky, gear races and the ambulances.
Sausage Sandwich Dinner

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will serve an Italian sausage sandwich dinner. Donation is $6. There will also be drink specials and games.
Audubon Birds Geauga Lakes
Nov. 19, 9 a.m.
Blackbrook Audubon will scan inland lakes for migrating ducks, loons and grebes. Everyone is invited to meet at the State Route 608 parking lot of Geauga Park District’s Headwaters Park in Huntsburg to carpool or caravan to LaDue Reservoir.

Holiday Meal Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are being sought to organize, pack and deliver meals during the upcoming holiday season. The Geauga County Department on Aging volunteers will deliver meals to seniors who are alone Thanksgiving and Christmas days.
Volunteers pick up one holiday meal per route, drive it to the senior’s home and spend some time visiting. Volunteers are needed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23 and Christmas Day, Dec. 25.
Preparation and organization assistance begins at 10 a.m. and runs until noon, while drivers arrive between 10:45-11:15 a.m. to deliver the holiday meals. All meals are delivered from the Multi-Purpose Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Chardon.
