Sheriff’s Report
December 21, 2017

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 8-14, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 384 calls during this seven-day period.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Dec. 12

12:06 p.m., Bean Road, Munson. Ongoing issue. Neighbor across the street has pushed all their snow against the complainant’s mailbox. Happens every year. Deputy advised. The resident that lives across the street snow-plowing contractor is putting snow near the complainant’s mailbox. Called the neighbors number in CAD and left a message to call back to correct problem.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Dec. 13

11:53 a.m., Huntley Road, Huntsburg. Two large bales of hay fell off of a vehicle and his complainant’s mailbox and did damage. Deputy responded to location and noted the damage mailbox and two large bales of hay. Complainant advised it happened sometime this morning, but does now know by who. Complainant wanted incident on file and bales removed, due to hazard.

SUSPICIOUS

Dec. 14

1:51 p.m., Reeves Road, Parkman. The caller found a strange battery pack attached to a suspicious button in her sons coat last night. She feels this might be related to the “prowler calls”. The caller also stated a cruiser might get stuck in the snow due to the snow. Deputy observed items. Was not suspicious in nature.

UTILITY PROBLEM

Dec. 8

11:33 a.m., Washington St., Auburn. There is a low hanging wire across Washington. The caller said Windstream came out and advised it is not there wire. The caller advised it is a cable line. Deputy responded. Non-used cable line down at the complainant’s property. Line’s been down since the high wind storm last month. Sudden Link is the cable company. Dispatch will contact cable company and advice them. Cable line does not interfere with Washington St. traffic.

WELFARE CHECK

Dec. 14

12:51 p.m., Cardinal Drive, Troy. 72 year old male did not answer his door for his meal delivery. Geauga advised he is not in Geauga. He lives alone. The have attempted to contact his emergency contacts and they have not answered. He has multiple medical problems. The meal delivery people there advised they did not see any tracks in the snow. Deputy checked residence, he was okay. He was at a doctors appointment when Meals on Wheels came.
