Food Pantry Open

The food pantry at Chester Christian Center A/G Church will be open to the community. The pantry is open to anyone in need of food; one does not need to be a member of the church to attend.
The church is located at 11815 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.
Boy Scout Spaghetti Dinner
Jan. 26, 4:30-7:30 p.m.
Parkman Cub Scout Pack 4076 is hosting a spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction at Parkman Community House, 16295 Main Market Road. Carryout is available.
Presale tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for youth ages 5-12. Tickets at the door are $9 for adults and $6 for youth ages 5-12. Children under 5 are free.
Chinese auction tickets will be sold throughout the dinner. The drawing will take place around 7 p.m. Winners need not be present.

Veterans Health Fair

American Legion Post 6519 will host a Veterans Health Fair at the post located at 14052 Goodwin St. in Burton. All veterans are invited.

Groundwater and Well Maintenance
Jan. 30, 6-8 p.m.
Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District, Geauga Public Health, Geauga County Water Resources, and the U.S. Geological Survey are collaborating to present “Well Educated: A Deeper Look at Groundwater and Well Maintenance” at the Notre Dame Educational Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon. Free and open to the public, the program will feature an overview of groundwater in Geauga County, the public’s role in maintaining water wells, the importance of testing and other protection strategies and helpful resources that are available.

GEL Breakfast
Feb. 2, 7:30-9:30 a.m.
Geauga Growth Partnership, Kent State University at Geauga and Leadership Geauga will present “Geauga: State of the County” at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (G.E.L.) breakfast taking place at Kent State Geauga, 14111 Claridon-Troy Road in Burton.
Featured panelists include: Dean Angela Spalsbury, Kent State University Geauga; Angela Daugherty, Family Pride; Larry Gaspar, Chardon Fire Department; Joe Catell, Geauga County Engineer; Bill Dysert, Exscape Designs; Ben Sage, Sage’s Apples Farm Market; and Brigette Fiorille, Fairmount Center for the Arts.
A question and answer session will follow.
Breakfast and networking begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by the presentation from 8-9:30 a.m. Free and open to the public. Registration is appreciated.

Volunteer at Resale Shoppe
Volunteer opportunities exist at WomenSafe Resale Shoppe, which is open five days a week and Thursday evenings at its location, 12601 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township. Gentlemen volunteers and couples welcome as well.
All proceeds from the shop support the mission of the WomenSafe Shelter in Chardon.

VFW Warm-Up Breakfast
Feb. 4, 8 a.m. to noon
Chardon VFW Post 6519 pancake breakfasts begin Feb. 4 with a “warm-up breakfast” at the post located at 752 Water St. in Chardon. All meals will be $5 on an abbreviated menu
Regular season runs Feb. 11 through April 15, excluding Easter. Kids and senior menus are available.
Newbury Kiwanis Pancake Breakfasts
Newbury Area Kiwanis Club is serving its all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfasts every Sunday in February at Newbury High School cafeteria from 8:30 am to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 3-12 and free for children 2 and under. Proceeds benefit scholarship funds and other community needs.
