Students Turn the Unpotable to Potable

Over the past few weeks, students in Newbury High School’s STEM class worked on creating water filters. The class was divided into groups and given the instructions that their filters must be inexpensive to build and be hand-held devices. After completing the task, the groups then presented their filters to experts in water filtration.

Amanda Meitz, from BioSolutions Lab, and Mark Brotman, from Kinetico, came to the school on Feb. 12 to watch the presentations and provide feedback to the groups. Both experts were pleasantly surprised at the amount of knowledge the students acquired through their research on water filtration and the innovation of the filters themselves. It was a great opportunity for Newbury High School students to get hands-on activities and professional insight.
