NDES Celebrates May Crowning
At a prayerful gathering on May 10, NDES students celebrated May Crowning honoring the Virgin Mary. As an annual tradition at NDES, the first-grade students lead the school with a special prayer service complete with a flower crowning ceremony to honor our Blessed Mother. Thank you to Mrs. Kathy Biro, Mrs. Rachel Gardner and Sr. Carol Marek, SND for preparing the first-graders for this sacred ceremony.
Spring Field Trip
The preschoolers took their annual spring field trip on May 7. Through the dense forest behind NDES and a trek down the hill to the football stadium at NDCL, the little lions explored the blessings of springtime in bloom on the vast campus of Notre Dame Schools. At NDES, all of nature is the classroom and available just outside the school doors.
In the Shoes of the Famous
A few weeks ago, Elvis was spotted at NDES, except it wasn’t Elvis, but a seventh-grade student impersonating him and sharing his life story during Mrs. Kelly Stefanek’s English language arts class. In addition to studying literature and basic writing mechanics, students investigate different types of speeches and the different hooks and angles speakers use to engage an audience.
