Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 11-17, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 368 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
May 16
1:33 p.m., Ravenna Road, Chardon. Three stray goats with collars in the yard. Caller is trying to keep them off Ravenna Road. She does not know who owns these goats, but is asking for some assistance. Goats contained; owners arrived.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
May 14
3:46 p.m., Owen Road, Parkman. Caller is requesting a phone call regarding an ongoing neighbor dispute. Caller’s neighbor frequently sets off Tannerite causing ringing in his ears. Deputy advised. Today caller went to the doctor and has documented injury from explosions. He wants the issue addressed. Male was contacted and deputy documented the info he had.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
May 14
5:25 p.m., Lake Shore Drive, Newbury. Fiancé threatened to break my back and kill me. Caller cannot get herself into another room. Male currently is outside drinking. Caller has had a few drinks. There are kids in the house. Female is upset because he locked her out of the house when she had groceries, including ice cream. There is a history of violence. Today there was no violence. Female has a previous back injury, unrelated. Male doesn’t know 911 was called. He will not be happy when deputies arrive; he will be a problem. He does not have weapons. Male currently standing in front of house talking with neighbor. One arrested.
May 17
10:36 a.m., Rock Creek Road, Thompson. IR requested. Complainant reports his ex-girlfriend called him over 60 times on his cell phone and threatened to slice his throat. This occurred on Saturday. It is quiet now. Requesting further assistance. Report completed.
FRAUD
May 14
2:11 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Female has been placing fake delivery orders. Spoke with owner of Johnny’s. She said on Friday a female ordered $30 worth of food and had it delivered to male’s home. Complainant said when their driver got to male’s home to deliver the food, male said he did not order any food. Complainant said male told driver he things it could have been a former girlfriend who placed the order, but was not sure and had no proof. Provided her phone number, but they were unable to check it against caller ID because it only stores calls from the day. Advice given.
HARASSMENT
May 16
10:53 a.m., Wake Robin Road, Newbury. Neighbor is starting his harassment. He yells in a bullhorn at the neighbors and plays loud music as soon as he sees them come outside. Deputy responded to location and met with complainant, who advised neighbor is yelling at them about water on property along with other issues. Complainant further advised no threats have been made, just harassing nature. Complainant requested advice on what to do. Advice given. Complainant advised they will video the neighbor’s behavior and seek info on restraining order. Cleared IR only.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
May 11
12:27 p.m., Leader Road, Hambden. 9-year-old son held a knife to his mother. Knife has been removed. He is on the couch. ER advised.
OVERDOSE
May 13
1:01 a.m., Music Street, Newbury. 28-year-old female possible OD. CPR in progress. Spoon on floor, possibly heroin. Burton Volunteer Fire Department to meet at 44 and 87. Coroner advised.
THREATENING
May 12
12:55 a.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Male threatened caller with a handgun because it was “too loud in the trailer” and the caller went over there to ask him to quiet down. That is when the male pulled the gun and threatened him. Caller is staying at his residence and has locked the doors. He is not going to leave for any reason and was advised to call 911 immediately if anything happened before deputies arrive. Male arrested and report to follow.
