Farm Bureau Ice Cream Social

June 28, 6 p.m.
The Geauga County Farm Bureau is hosting its annual membership appreciation ice cream social at Swine Creek Reservation Lodge, 16004 Hayes Road, Middlefield. Sponsored by the Geauga County Farm Bureau Board of Trustees there will be ice cream, desserts, music, drawings and more.

The event is open to the public, Farm Bureau members andOur Ohiosupporters are free. Non-member fees are $5 per adult, with children under 5 free. Guests may sign up for membership at the event.

Food Pantry Open

June 29, 10 a.m. to noon

The food pantry at Chester Christian Center will be open to anyone in the community who is in need of food. One does not need to be a member of the church to come to the pantry.

The church is located at 11815 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

Military Veterans Appreciation Lunch

June 30, 2 p.m.

The Knights of Columbus Council 15942 is hosting a free pasta lunch for veterans to show appreciation for their service. The lunch featuring dignitary speakers will take place atSt. Mary Church banquet room, 401 North St., Chardon.

American Legion Steak Roast

June 30, 5-7 p.m.

Newbury American Legion and Auxiliary Post 663 is hosting its annual pre-4th of July community steak roast in the Hunter Pavilion behind the Post at 11008 Kinsman Road in Newbury.

Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Event includes a 50/50 raffle.

St. Mary Chardon Festival

July 6-8

The fifth annual St. Mary Parish Festival will feature rides, kids games, live entertainment, a casino, dancing, entertainment and more at 401 North St. in Chardon.

St. Helen’s Unicyclists will perform Friday and there will be a full fireworks display Saturday night.

Free Fresh Produce

July 7, 9-11 a.m.

Newbury United Community Church is hosting a fresh produce giveaway at the church located at 14961 Auburn Road.

Cleveland FoodBank provides the service to low income Geauga County residents. Please bring ID and bags.

Distributions are the first Saturday of the month through Nov 3.

BBQ Pork Roast Dinner

July 7, 5:30-7 p.m.

Chardon VFW Post 6519 Auxiliary is hosting a barbecue pork roast dinner at 752 Water St. There will be a $1,000 drawing at 7:10 p.m. Donation is $20.

Thompson/Ledgemont Reunion

July 8, noon

The annual Thompson/Ledgemont High School Old Timers Reunion will be held at Montville Community Center, 9755 Madison Road in Montville Township. Social time begins at noon followed by a potluck lunch at 1 p.m. Bring a dish to share and table service.

The Ledgemont Class of 1968 will be honored for its 50th anniversary, and the Ledgemont Class of 1979 will be welcomed for the first time.Nametags will be provided.

Pioneer School

July 9-13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Geauga County Historical Society will host its annual Pioneer School for campers ages 8-12 on the grounds of Century Village Museum in Burton.

Each day is filled with a variety of activities, each with a link to the past. Children are encouraged, but not required to dress in costume.

Cost is $95 per child for Society members and $115 for nonmembers. Memberships may be purchased with registration. To register, call Terri at 440-834-1492.

WG Girls Soccer Camp

July 9-13, 6-8 p.m.

Kori Chapic and the West Geauga girls varsity team will be holding a soccer camp for boys and girls entering grades 2-8. The coaching staff will consist of male and female junior varsity and varsity players and coaching staff.

A fundraiser for the WGHS girls soccer, cost is $110 for the first child and $85 for additional siblings. Each camper receives a T-shirt and two free tickets to a home game.

Protect Geauga Parks

July 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Protect Geauga Parks will be having a Shelter Sound-Off at the Minnow Pond Shelter at Beartown Lakes Reservation, 18870 Quinn Road in Auburn Township. Refreshments will be provided.

Hear updates on what PGP has been doing and participate in a discussion on important issues.

VFW Meatball Sandwiches

Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m.

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will offer meatball sandwiches for dinner every Wednesday in July to complement its weekly Queen of Hearts drawing. Cost is $6.50 per serving, or $8 with french fries.

Yoder Brothers Foundation Reverse Raffle

July 20, 5:30-11 p.m.

A reverse raffle to benefit the Yoder Brothers Foundation will be held at EOUV Club in Russell Township. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $75 and include dinner, open bar and raffle ticket. Grand prize is $5,000, with only 250 tickets sold. There will also be a silent auction, Chinese auction, side boards and more.

HomeGrown Geauga

Aug. 11, 5:30-9 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale for Geauga Growth Partnership’s sixth annual HomeGrown Geauga fundraising event at ASM International, 9639 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.

The evening features food, spirits, music, silent auction, raffles and homegrown entertainment.
