Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 29 through July 5, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 461 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLM
July 3
8:04 p.m., Farmington Road, Parkman. Turtle on the road. Removed turtle from roadway.
ASSAULT
July 3
10:38 a.m., Findlay Street, Bainbridge. Mail carrier, male tried to choke her and then she thought he was going to stab her with something he was pulling out of his pocket. Skinny black male, black hoodie, black pants. He ran off into a field next to a church. Female is in a mail truck.
CITIZEN ASSIST
July 3
9:08 a.m., Forest Road, Claridon. Complainant’s computer was blocked and a telephone number appeared on the screen. Complainant called the number and they turned the computer back on after having complainant type in some keys. The computer immediately went off again and the person demanded $300 to turn the computer back on. Complainant refused to give the caller any money and hung up. Complainant was advised to contact a professional computer repairman to fix the computer.
July 4
12:11 a.m., Rapids Road, Troy. Elderly female’s small dog is tuck in the ditch and cannot crawl out. Caller requested assistance from someone who is able-bodied to get her out. Deputy was able to lift the dog out of the ditch.
FOUND PROPERTY
June 29
9:09 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Male found a backpack with a gun and two cans of beer. Deputy advised. BB gun put in evidence, unknown owner, to be destroyed.
FRAUD
June 29
4:52 p.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Met with complainant in lobby who stated two checks from masonry and landscaping company bounced and complainant did not receive money and is stuck with fees. Complainant stated he went to business to make thing correct, but got kicked out from the property by Middlefield Village PD. Advice given to send certified letter to make things right and handle through civil court.
HARASSMENT
July 2
11:49 a.m., Dianne Drive, Newbury. Harassment complaint in the lobby. Complainant wanted advice regarding her neighbors yelling at her as she leaves the house. She was told how to obtain a protection order. Clear.
July 5
3:01 a.m., Bainbridge Road, Auburn. Male in lobby at GCSO. Ex-girlfriend harassing male through text and Facebook. Male given advice again on how to get the telecommunications to stop. He was again advised to send female a certified letter advising her to stop all contact. Protection order option was explained again as well.
INTOXICATED PERSON
June 29
12:29 a.m., Ravenna Road, Chardon. Caller says her sister is in her boyfriend’s trunk and will not get out. She put herself in there. She is highly intoxicated. Caller was uncooperative and hung up before contact information could be obtained. Deputies requested dispatch to ping the female’s phone. After doing so the phone was pinged in the area of Painesville City. Incident will be considered closed until further information is obtained.
LOST PROPERTY
June 30
4:57 p.m., Chestnut Drive, Burton. Green Field and Stream kayak lost between Eldon Russell Park and Burton Village. Earlier today caller was driving home from park and the straps broke holding her kayak on the trailer and one fell off. After speaking with caller, deputy checked Rapids Road from Burton to the park but did not locate the kayak.
NOISE PROBLEM
July 2
11:21 p.m., Berkshire Drive, Aquilla. Village councilman called advising there is a male at the address who frequently is throwing items in his garage and being very loud. Councilman advised there is a noise ordinance after 11 p.m. He is not mowing his lawn while wearing a headlamp. Unknown name. Man was advised of noise ordinance in the village. He said he understood and was done cutting his grass. Said he will not cause any more disturbances. Cleared without incident.
OVERDOSE
July 3
12:01 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Male on the ground, possible overdose. Male is breathing; he is shaking. Male is pale and hands are turning blue. Male transported to ER because of drug overdose.
SUSPICIOUS
June 29
5:33 p.m., Newcomb Road, Parkman. Male observed someone entering his residence on a trail camera. Report taken.
July 3
7:56 p.m., Whisper Wood Circle, Auburn. Female stated human traffickers and terrorists are harassing her. She has contacted the CIA directly. She reported the human traffickers have energy weapons and they are watching her with drones. Female stated she had evidence to prove this, but was unwilling to provide this to deputies. Female declined any mental health treatment. Would not allow deputies to speak with her parents.
THEFT
July 3
5:01 p.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. Caller states his acoustic guitar was stolen from his trunk at Hambden Corners. Value of guitar $300. Report taken.
THREATENING
June 29
7:46 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Male was threatened by a neighbor and the kids calling him names. Deputy advised. Complainant alleges a neighbor boy called him the N-word. Responding officer spoke with neighbor boy who claims all he said was “what’s up.” Video that complainant captured supports the neighbor boy’s account and refutes the complainant’s account.
