Complainers, Get Involved

I read with interest the recent article concerning complaints about the work the Parkman Township Trustees are doing.

I am a Parkman resident and attend many of the meetings. I have seen the current trustees at work and am amazed at the good job that they do working as a team. The township, just as any personal home, has a limited amount of money with which to work. A budget must be set, priorities must be determined and the bills must be paid.

Several years ago, a levy was placed on the ballot which would have funded paving of all of the township roads. It was soundly defeated by the residents. I guess you get what you pay for — gravel roads.

The most disappointing point is, when I frequently go to the meetings, I am many times the only resident in attendance. Certainly I have concerns about our township, and my comments and advice at the meetings are always welcome by the trustees.

I suggest to the “complainers” to get involved. Come to the meetings, which are held on the first and third Tuesday of every month, and be part of the solution and not just a complainer.

If you are so unhappy with current Board of Trustees, get involved further and get your name on the ballot as a candidate for trustee. If elected, maybe you can help solve some of the perceived problems.
