Sheriff’s Report
September 20, 2018

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 7-13, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 393 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Sept. 7

5:29 p.m., Claridon Troy Road, Troy. South of Patch. Hawk is injured. Still alive on the shoulder. Hawk transported to Hiram College animal/wildlife rehab.

Sept. 8

12:25 p.m., Highland View Drive, Munson. Caller has a big black snake in the house. 4-5 feet long. Caller will wait in the car. Black Rat snake removed from the home and released to a more appropriate habitat.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Sept. 10

11:21 a.m., Terrace Drive, Middlefield. Husband left over a month ago and has not been paying the bills. Caller is now being evicted and he is threatening to take her car. He is not supporting her at all. He left a mess when he left. Deputy advised of call. Caller advised to contact a civil attorney concerning divorce.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Sept. 8

4:35 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Caller advised the neighbor is becoming violent with other people in the park. Caller does not know his name. Suspect is throwing beer bottles at other trailers. Caller sounded intoxicated. Caller called back and said suspect is now becoming violent with caller by chasing him. Caller advised he has been drinking. Caller now back at his house. Male in jail. Report to follow.

DISORDERLY

Sept. 9

11:44 p.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Patient has become violent in the ER. Patient walked out of the room and punched a sitter. Patient was sedated and strapped to the bed upon arrival. Hospital handling internally.

DRUGS

Sept. 10

8:42 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Drugs complaint in jail. Inmate advised staff that work release inmates were bringing drugs into the jail. Jail search was done by K-9. Did not locate any drugs.

EXTRA PATROL

Sept. 8

1:23 a.m., Aquilla Village. Someone came to the house around 10:30 p.m. and knocked on the door loudly. When caller went to answer, nobody was there. Caller went outside to check area and found a male hiding in the bushes outside the home. When confronted, the male stated he was “pinging,” then told caller he cuts grass in the area to earn money. Male may be around 16-19 years old. It was dark outside so caller does not have further description. Caller requested extra patrol.

FRAUD

Sept. 7

1:07 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Female in the parking lot. She is on the phone with a male saying he is from the sheriff’s office and that she owes money and that he will meet her in parking lot to get the money.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

Sept. 13

8:45 a.m., Ensign Road, Claridon. 16-year-old son won’t go to school. School said it is the parents’ responsibility to go. Child was refusing to go to school due to his mother not letting him get his license. Male was given advice and stated he was going to school.

SUSPICIOUS

Sept. 8

7:26 p.m., Thwing Road, Chardon. Caller states they found a flash drive that has videos of a dog being abused and also a child. Would like to speak with a deputy. Advice given. Female is going to provide the flash drive to Lake County JFS.

Sept. 12

6:10 p.m., Leader Road, Hambden. There are two people having sex in the field between Leaders and the bike path. The male had a lot of tattoos; the female blonde shoulder length hair. Deputy spoke with two people in the park who claim to only be kissing. They went back to their residence.

Sept. 13

1:23 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. White male, older pants, grey, shirt possible off white. He just urinated and had bowel movement in our parking lot. He is across the street at this time. 89-year-old man needed to use restroom badly. Checked OK.

THEFT

Sept. 11

11:26 .m. Cedar Road, Munson. Deputy spoke with complainant in lobby. He advised deputy that during months of October 2017 through January 2018 his sister’s then health care aid was using Middlefield Bank debit card for personal use. Total amount charged was $3,157.36. A copy of bank statement attached to report.

THEFT AUTO

Sept. 8

1:01 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Found vehicle at A B Tires in Auburn, Mercedes Benz. Caller called in earlier today and said her ex-husband might be coming up to report a stolen car. She said the car was no good and ex-husband had been gone for four years in Honduras, so she sold the car for scrap to the tire company. She did not have the title. Vehicle was located and arrangements were made to retrieve it. Advice provided.
