Grandparent’s Day Celebration
Grandparents and special guests of St. Mary’s students gathered to celebrate together on Sept. 23 at St. Mary Church. The special day began with song and prayer as the students sat beside their guests to reflect together. Deacon Larry Boehnlein spoke to the group about how special relationships formed across generations help keep family close and how true unconditional love exists between grandparents and grandchildren.
Students then performed special songs and poems created especially for their visitors. The junior high students presented a teaser of their upcoming spring musical, “School House Rock Jr.,” including a nod to their cultural backgrounds. The school halls then filled with families on a building-wide scavenger hunt to showcase all the kids’ favorite things and give a taste of what its like to be a student in school at St. Mary.
Grandmother Angie Moore said, “It was a good day spending time with our twin granddaughters. Don’t believe they are in eighth-grade already. Each and every year was enjoyed at Grandparents Day ay St. Mary’s.”
