The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 5-11, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 337 calls during this seven-day period.

AGENCY ASSIST

Oct. 5

11:07 a.m. U.S. Secret Service is speaking with subject regarding comments on Facebook regarding the U.S. President. Stood by with the Secret Service while they interviewed subject.

Oct. 7

3:40 a.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Patient brought in 8 ball of meth, pills and weed into hospital. Grand jury packet and report to follow.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Oct. 11

3:35 p.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. Deer caught up in a soccer net. Deer was cut free and wondered off.

ASSAULT

Oct. 7

3:18 a.m., Edgewater Drive, Newbury. Male was assaulted in Burton Village. He refused to be transported to the hospital. Male’s nose was injured. He advised he did not want the matter pursued. He was advised if he did to contact Burton PD.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Oct. 10

6:17 p.m., Hotchkiss Road, Burton. Caller’s neighbor is blowing leaves into his yard. Deputy spoke to both parties. Tenant complained the leaves he blew onto the driveway were the complainant’s leaves. Complainant stated without an arborist there, they cannot prove it is their leaves.

FRAUD

Oct. 7

3:18 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Complainant purchased a piece of workout equipment from an online vendor. Company has cashed the check, but continues to push back the ship date. Complainant also has found the company has a history of suspicious activity.

Oct. 8

1:36 p.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Complainant advised someone used her Kay Jewelers credit card without her permission. Complainant further advised they charged approximately $1,200. After speaking with complainant, deputy learned the credit card company will take care of incident as long as complainant files the incident at sheriff’s office.

4:16 p.m., Goredon Drive, Aquilla. Some type of collection company is harassing the caller. She gave them some debit card info. Female gave $150 to someone who stated she owes on a loan from 2011. Advice provided.

Oct. 9

5:59 p.m., Turner Drive, Aquilla. Female stated her computer froze earlier today and she received a message on her computer saying she now has a virus. She said the message said to contact a 1-800 number. She said she contacted the number and, after speaking with a representative, she was advised to send them a check. She said she gave them her information and emailed this company a check. Caller said after a few hours she realized she had been scammed.

Oct. 11

1:45 p.m., Auburn Road, Auburn. Spoke with complainant in the lobby. Female said someone claiming to be from Chase Bank who she banks with contacted her. She said the male said her account had some fraudulent activity and asked her to verify her identity. Female said she gave the male her info and the phone disconnected. Female called the number back and spoke with another person from Chase Bank, at which point she found out her account was hacked. Female said the suspect was able to get $2,000 out of her current account and transfer it into a new account he had opened in her name. Female said Chase Bank blocked both accounts and is working on reimbursing her the money she lost. Advice given.

OVERDOSE

Oct. 6

12:30 p.m., Bell Street, Newbury. 23-year-old female possible overdose on meth or heroin. Mother confirmed she is breathing. Screaming and line disconnected prior to any info. Upon callback, female screaming and line disconnected again. Unknown what drug possible combination. Female overdosed on heroin. Narcan given and she was transported to the hospital by Newbury squad.

THEFT

Oct. 5

11:15 p.m., Colchester Drive, Auburn. Caller says a small SUV or minivan full of juveniles stole Halloween decorations/pumpkins from their porch. Checked area, UTL/GOA.
