The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Nov. 23-29, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 340 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Nov. 24
1:40 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Turkeys in the roadway following cars.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Nov. 23
6:13 p.m., Longview Trail, Auburn. 30-year-old male fighting with father. Per mom, no weapons. Keeps hanging up. He has been drinking. Parties are separated. Father has arm injuries. Send a squad to check him. Male was arrested for domestic violence and disorderly conduct.
FRAUD
Nov. 23
3:36 p.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Scammed out of $600 by clicking on a website that was not legitimate. Male purchased $600 worth of gift cards to Apple and provided numbers to foreign sounding male. Complainant was attempting to get a refund for an Apple app.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
Nov. 28
3:40 p.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Junior student was making comments about “shooting up everyone” while on the bus going home today. Principal and staff would like to meet with a deputy in the front of the school by the flagpoles. They will have the student’s information. Bus driver took juvenile home to his residence. Report taken; follow up needed. School staff still needs to provide information. Juvenile in question interviewed. Juvenile in question has been placed.
SUSPICIOUS
Nov. 26
9:42 a.m., Fox Road, Troy. Elderly female received a Facetime call from a New York number from an Asian male, who was taking pictures of her when she answered. She said the call only lasted a couple of seconds and she hung up. She said she was not sure what to do and called the sheriff’s office. She was advised to block the number from her phone and advised not to answer calls from people or phone numbers she does not know.
1:50 p.m., Butternut Road, Newbury. Caller needs to speak to a deputy about an unknown incident that occurred online. Complainant paid to have her computer fixed and gave up her passwords and bank account number. Advice given.
THEFT
Nov. 28
10:06 a.m., Chardon Windsor Road, Claridon. Complainant advised money is missing, at least $500, and jewelry. Possible grandson who lives with her took it. Report taken.
THREATENING
Nov. 26
1:07 p.m., Hart Road, Montville. Complainant in lobby to file a threat report. Between 7:20-7:40 p.m., complainant’s husband had consumed a large amount of alcohol and had asked for shotgun shells to shoot the TV. Complainant denied access to the shells and her husband said “you’re gone” and went to sleep. Complainant was not hurt or threatened, but is concerned about his drinking and future episodes that could lead to threats of injury or harm. Advice given.
TRAFFIC HAZARD
Nov. 26
10:04 p.m., Wilson Mills Road, Munson. Caller is upset because her kid is in the ditch. The tow truck driver is an idiot and he is blocking the whole road and cars are trying to go around him. Caller hung up when asked her name. Checked area. UTL.
TRESPASSING
Nov. 23
7:08 p.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. Several people at the back of caller’s property with flashlights, guns and dogs. Complainant advised a group of 8-10 males walked through his property. Males advised they were “coon hunting and they were trying to track their dogs.” Checked the area of where males last seen and could not locate them.
