The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Nov. 30 through Dec. 6, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 376 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Dec. 3

6:03 p.m., Creighton Lane, Auburn. Great Dane is stuck in the wire mesh under a couch. Caller is not strong enough to get him out. Fire personnel cut the springs of the couch to free the dog’s leg. Everything was OK.

ASSAULT

Dec. 1

7:24 p.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. An ex-friend began an argument with caller. After name-calling and being told to leave the area, ex-friend threw a beer can at caller’s head. He does not need rescue. Male lives somewhere in Leaders. Male has left the area after sitting in his car in front of caller’s house for a while. No assault took place. Video of events show the can never struck the caller. Advice provided.

BURGLARY

Dec. 6

4:20 p.m., Clubhouse Drive, Hambden. Male just arrived home and found forced entry through the front door; the doorframe is shattered. His safe is missing. Burglar went right to closet where rare going are kept. Homeowner was out of town. Possible suspect knew homeowner was out of town in Michigan. Suspect has been in the home before to use washing machine. Sleeve of large peace coins, 1899 black eagle dollar, tubes of peace dollars. Homeowner will complete a list of stolen items.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Dec. 4

12:11 p.m., Country Lane, Bainbridge. Male had his day in court today. Was upset judge did not give him more time. Wanted deputy to arrest the attorney. Explained to male case is over. Male departed not happy.

SUSPICIOUS

Dec. 2

1:39 p.m., Arbor Glen Drive, Chardon. Received a phone recording that stated someone had paid a $30,000 hit or bounty on his head and to watch everyone around him. Scam number called the number back. Male on other end wants $10,000 to take the hit off the caller. Deputy called scammer. Scammer wanted deputy to go to Wal-Mart and take out money from bank and call him back.

Dec. 3

2:39 p.m., Huntley Road, Huntsburg. Caller’s neighbor is a registered sex offender. He was in the middle of the road when kids went by. She advised the sheriff’s office told her to call every time he is near the kids. Caller does not want a deputy at her house. She wants this handled by phone. Deputy advised. Neighbor was filling holes in drive.

THEFT

Nov. 30

2:52 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Go to the sales office. There is a bank deposit of $3,410 that is missing. Unknown who took it. Report taken.

Dec. 5

11:11 a.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. We cut a bunch of wood the other day and noticed it was stolen last night. Extra patrol requested. Undetermined on the value of the firewood.

THREATENING

Dec. 1

12:19 a.m., Daniel Lane, Hambden. Brother in law is threatening couple through text message and over Facebook to damage their vehicle. Male lives in Madison.  Threats of physical harm were also made on Facebook but were thought to be a joke by complainants. Advice given.

VANDALISM

Dec. 2

11:44 a.m., Burton Windsor Road, Huntsburg. Spoke with complainant who said sometime during the night unknown suspects entered the school and took toilet paper from the storage room. Suspects spread the TP around the classrooms and also outside of the building. Suspects also wrote obscene comments on the dry erase board and sprayed hand lotion on it as well. Caller said it did not appear anything was damaged or missing that he could tell. Caller said he does not know who would have done this, but he will try to find out if it was anyone on the community.
