The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 4-10, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 376 calls during this seven-day period.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
Jan. 4
4:45 p.m., Eden Park Drive, Chardon. Caller reports his teenage son threw his dad’s keys into the woods and is uncontrollable. Son pulled a knife on his mother. He’s telling his father “fk you n” in the background. Knife has been put away. He punched a hole in the wall. Phone has been disconnected. Dispatch is back on the telephone; the son disconnected the phone. Son just slapped his mother. Caller asking for the sirens to be turned off. Teenager transported to Portage Juvenile Detention Center. Report to follow.
FRAUD
Jan. 7
4:34 p.m., Ravenna Road, Chardon. In the lobby for credit card fraud. Bank automatically paid credit card which was used fraudulently in the amount of $9,700.
Jan. 10
12:40 p.m., Dogwood Lane, Auburn. Computer scam. $3,000 lost. Report taken.
4:01 p.m., Quail Woods Drive, Chardon. Caller sent $5,000 worth of gift cards to a fraudulent business, believing their email requests were from her boss.
HARASSMENT
Jan. 7
5:40 p.m., Great Lakes Parkway, Troy. Caller reports she is being extorted through Plenty of Fish. This is occurring now while she is at work. Caller was told there may be explosive unit on her vehicle. Female is threatening to post photos and videos unless a $3,000 fee is paid. Staff page sent for the dog call out. Report taken.
NATURAL DISASTER
Jan. 8
4:32 p.m., Old State Road, Middlefield. Caller states a tornado flew by her eastbound and the clouds behind are low. Tornado did not touch down or cause damage. She’s traveling southbound on Route 306. National Weather Service contacted. There is no adverse, tornadic like activity in Middlefield.
OVERDOSE
Jan. 5
4:05 a.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Anonymous caller reported female was inside her apartment overdosing on heroin. Deputies arrived on scene and located female on the floor in her bedroom, wheezing for air and unresponsive. Deputy administered one NARCAN. Squad arrived on scene and administered three more NARCAN. Female transported to ER.
SUSPICIOUS
Jan. 4
9:29 a.m., Loring Avenue, Aquilla. Would like to speak with a deputy in reference to things written on the frosted windows of her car. Sometime last night. Rule 4 for criminal mischief.
Jan. 5
9:44 p.m., Valley Road, Auburn. Out with an occupied vehicle. Deputy observed an occupied vehicle in the back lot. A male jumped into the driver’s seat upon pulling up to the vehicle. Boyfriend/girlfriend were identified. Both advised they were talking in the back seat.
THREATENING
Jan. 5
2:27 a.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Call came in and caller stated they were going to “burn down the Youth Center and that they were at KKK follower” along with numerous racial slurs. Report taken. 16-year-old male arrested. Report to follow.
