The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 11-17, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 364 calls during this seven-day period.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
Jan. 14
9:29 p.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Possible problems from township meeting. School board president’s home and board voted to merge with West Geauga tonight and people are not happy.
FRAUD
Jan. 11
2:02 p.m., North State Avenue, Middlefield. Caller had two checks in the amount of $6,250 each attempted to be drawn from his account by an out-of-state bank. Both checks were denied by caller’s bank.
Jan. 16
9:40 p.m., Hotchkiss Road, Newbury. Received a letter from Macy’s from its fraud prevention notifying me someone opened an account using my name, address and phone number. They told me to file a police report for stolen identity. Caller wanted incident documented. Info given for credit monitoring agencies.
INTOXICATED PERSON
Jan. 13
9:54 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Male walked in to the lobby advising his daughter is in car parked in the front of Post 1. She is intoxicated and he would like her arrested. Female arrested for underage consumption.
SUSPICIOUS
Jan. 17
10:16 a.m., Route 528, Parkman. A white male in a white van tried to lure a 13-year-old Amish girl into his van. She did not get a plate. This is the second time this male has attempted to get her into the van. No direction of travel. Only description is male had facial hair. Mother of young girl wanted incident documented.
TPO VIOLATION
Jan. 11
5:09 a.m., Huntley Road, Huntsburg. Male walked through caller’s door, stole her phone and left on foot toward Clay. Male had a knife. Wrapped in gray blanket. Male entered home at 1 a.m. and tried to talk caller into dropping protection order. One male arrested.
