Feb. 1-7, 2019

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Feb. 1-7, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 378 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Feb. 5

8:02 a.m., Wilson Mills Road, Munson. Turkeys going after cars; traffic is backed up. Deputy advised. UTL/GOA.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Feb. 2

11:56 a.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Mother thinks he son should be in jail. He is mean to her, throws a dog cage with the dog in it, he threw his phone at caller’s sister.

Feb. 4

9:21 a.m., Brookview Road, Huntsburg. Female reporting her husband’s girlfriend is stalking her and her vehicle damaged the driveway. Call clear.

FRAUD

Feb. 4

2:01 p.m., Brookfield Drive, Auburn. Female said in October she signed a snow plowing contract for $220 and per the contract her driveway was to be plowed anytime there is 2 inches of snow or more. Her driveway has not been plowed all winter. She has since had to hire someone else to plow her driveway and has requested a refund. Male said he would refund her money by mailing a check, but she never received it. Female told she needed to contact GCSO, who advised her this is a civil matter because she entered into a contract and male did not uphold his end. Female advised on steps she needed to take to get her money back. Advice given.

HARASSMENT

Feb. 1

4:41 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Caller needs to make report for harassment. He was intoxicated and was not the victim of any crime. He wanted to show text messages that did not make sense regarding any type of criminal complaint. He was picked up and left the lobby.

INTOXICATED PERSON

Feb. 1

4:44 p.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Intoxicated female in ER waiting room. Hit sent to Mentor PD. Mentor on the Lake will met at Auburn and 44. She was causing a scene at Geauga hospital and was arrested on her warrant. Report to follow.

SUSPICIOUS

Feb. 3

10:26 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Horse and buggy tied up at Parkman Dollar General for the last hour. No one is around. Owner at Super Bowl party across the street.

Feb. 5

12:34 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Clerk stated a white Yukon has been in the parking lot for 4 hours. Female checks OK. She said she just broke up with boyfriend and needed somewhere to park and talk in the phone. Gas station clerk was advised female checked OK.

8:12 a.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Out with some kind of dispute. While sitting at the intersection, deputy noticed a male come outside and take the female’s purse off the porch where she was sitting. Deputy asked both parties what was going on and they said they were having a little argument. Advice provided and the two said they would get along.

Feb. 7

11:51 a.m., Dawson Drive, Auburn. Someone dumped a large number of nails in a large portion of the caller’s driveway. Caller said he spoke to his neighbor who believes the nails were intended for his driveway and not the caller’s. Party just wanted the incident documented.
