Rescue Village will host its Art to the Rescue event at Lowe’s Greenhouse, Florist & Gift Shop in Bainbridge Township.

Art to the Rescue

Feb. 23, 7-9 p.m.

Rescue Village will host its Art to the Rescue event at Lowe’s Greenhouse, Florist & Gift Shop in Bainbridge Township. Presented by Dr. Julie A. Clayman, the event will feature dozens of original works of art, fine crafts, jewelry and more, to be auctioned off during the party. The event includes live music by Matt Harmon, art pieces created live at the event by local artists, therapy dogs, and heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages.

Funds raised will benefit the animals of Rescue Village. Tickets are $100 per person in advance or $125 at the door. Visit www.rescuevillage.orgor call 440-338-4819.

Bluegrass at Hambden Grange

Feb. 23, 6 p.m.

Hambden Grange will host Doghouse Entertainment’s Bluegrass Jamboree, featuring Family Pride and Red Dust Mountain Boys. Doors open at 6 p.m.; show starts at 7 p.m. Food stand is available. Tickets are $10 for adults. Children under 11 years are free.

The Grange is located at 9778 Old State Road, Chardon.

OPERS Retirees Meet

Feb. 27, 11 a.m.

The Geauga County Public Employee Retirees, Inc. (PERI) 86 will meet at St. Mary’s Church, 401 North St., Chardon. Speaker is Geauga County Health Commissioner Thomas Quade.

Is Ohio Now a Red State?

Feb. 28, 6 p.m.

The Geauga County Democratic Party will host a chicken dinner and evening of political discourse at the party headquarters located at 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township. David Pepper, chairperson of the Ohio Democratic Party, will address the results of the last Ohio election, take suggestions and answer questions.

Doors open at 6 p.m., followed by the speaker at 7 p.m.

Suggested donation is $13 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Discounted memberships will be available.

G.E.L. Breakfast

March 1, 7:30-9 a.m.
Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability will be the featured program at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (G.E.L.) breakfast being held at Kent State Geauga, 14111 Claridon Troy Road in Burton.

Meet three prominent business leaders who are driving responsible and sustainable practices and learn how to apply these practices in a workplace. Guest presenters are: Jared Robbins, BrownFlynn; Jeff Coy, Kinetico Inc.; and Sarah Robinson, Tarkett NA

GCBDD Hosts Community Carnival

March 2, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (GCBDD) is hosting its fourth annual community carnival at the Metzenbaum Center, 8200 Cedar Road in Chester Township.

The free event is open to all. Enjoy free food, games and a chance to win prizes.

Clothing Swap

March 9

Mayfield United Methodist Church will sponsor a clothing swap for children and teens at the church located at 7747 Mayfield Road in Chester Township. Swap gently used clothes and shoes that children have outgrown for other gently used clothes and shoes.

Donations of gently used clothes and shoes may be made on March 2 and 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the third floor of the church. Donors will receive a voucher listing the number of accepted items clothing items. The vouchers can then be redeemed for the same amount of clothing from 9-11 a.m. on March 9.

Vouchers may be given to another person for use. Sizes and quantities available are solely based on the donations received.

The doors will be open for those who did not make donations or do not have a voucher from 11 a.m. to noon; clothing will be disbursed free of charge on a first-come, first-serve basis. Any remaining clothes and/or shoes will be donated to a local charity.

LGRC St. Patrick’s Dinner Dance

March 16, 6-11 p.m.

The Lake-Geauga Recovery Center’s Alumni Association is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Dance at Painesville Township Park Community Center, 1025 Hardy Road. The adult-only event is open to the public and includes dinner and dancing. Music by Andy’s Last Band. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.

Patchwork Benefit

April 13, 5:30 p.m.

Enjoy an evening celebrating the achievements and continued progress of DDC Clinic at the Federated Church Family Life Center in Bainbridge Township. The 19th annual event includes dinner, drinks, music, basket raffle, and live and silent auctions.

Cost is $90 per person or $175 per couple. Sponsorships are available.

Geauga Faith Rescue Mission
