GPD Brings Portable Planetarium
Volunteers from the Geauga Park District shared their passion for astronomy and the natural world with fifth-graders last week thanks to the Binocular Astronomy Experience. The students enjoyed three stations, which included visiting the moon and planets in the solar system, learning what constitutes the magnitude of stars and observing many constellations in a portable planetarium, all while practicing with their own binoculars. It was a perfect way to culminate their study of the solar system, stars and galaxies.
NDES Students Love Math
Whether in math class or at a problem-solving tournament, NDES students love math. Across all grade levels, they are given the opportunity to work together as they solve math challenges. Students in Mrs. DiSanto’s fourth-grade class collaborate as they work on equivalent fractions. Pictured below is
GCCTM Problem Solving Tournament
Congratulations to fifth- and sixth-grade students that participated in the GCCTM Problem Solving Tournament over the weekend. The purpose of the tournament is to promote enthusiasm for math, recognize students for their interest, perseverance and talent in mathematics and problem solving and challenge them in an energizing and competitive setting. The students had a great time solving the problems and came away with both Rising Star and Champion awards.
