Grange Chili Cook-Off

March 23, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Huntsburg Grange is holding its annual Chili Cook-Off and Chinese auction in the Huntsburg gym located at the corner of state routes 528 and 322.

Event also features free cake, cake walk, live music, kids games, 50/50 raffle and outdoor grill raffle.

Peace Lutheran Church will host a chili cook-off, Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle at the church located at 12686 Bass Lake Road, Munson Township. Event also includes a bake sale. Parking is available around back.

Fabulous ‘50s and ‘60s Fundraiser

March 23, 5:30 p.m.

Middlefield First United Methodist Church will host a Fabulous ‘50s and ‘60s fundraiser at the Huntsburg Community Center. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, three entrees, dessert, a live and silent auction and live music by the band Downtown.

Cost is $35 per ticket. All proceeds will benefit the church’s land fund.

Bluegrass at Hambden Grange

March 23, 6 p.m.

Hambden Grange will host Mark Posey’s and Doghouse Entertainment Bluegrass Jamboree, featuring Ottawa County and Highway 57. Doors open at 6 p.m.; show starts at 7 p.m. Food stand is available.  Tickets are $10 for adults. Children under 11 years are free.

The Grange is located at 9778 Old State Road, Chardon.

Maple Murder Mystery

March 23, 6-10 p.m.

Destination Geauga and Geauga Lyric Theater Guild are co-hosting a Maple Murder Mystery at E.O.U.V. Hall, 8636 Pekin Road in Russell Township.

Tickets are $40 each and include dinner and the show. There will be a cash bar, raffle baskets and 50/50 raffle.

GCRTA Meeting

April 2, 11:15 a.m.

The Geauga County Retired Teachers Association will meet at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course, 13095 Rockhaven Road, Chester Township. Gathering time will be followed by the business meeting at 11:30 a.m. and a pork medallion lunch at noon.

Guest speaker is STRS Communications Director Nick Treneff, who will address STRS funding, the status of COLA and the health care program. Members are requested to submit questions and concerns in writing on provided index cards.

For reservations, send a check for $21 made out to GCRTA to Judy Miller, 17130 Kinsman Road, Middlefield, OH 44026. Payment must reach her by March 23. Call her at 440-487-4324 with any dietary restrictions.

The meeting will include a 50/50 raffle and a free lunch raffle. Remember to bring paper products or canned goods for the Geauga County Hunger Task Force.

GOP Lincoln Day Dinner

The Geauga County Republican Party will hold its annual Lincoln Day dinner at The Tanglewood Club, 8745 Tanglewood Trail, Bainbridge Township. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 pm.

Keynote speaker will be Ohio Senate President Larry Obhoff, with special remarks by Congressman Dave Joyce and a visit from Abraham Lincoln.

Tri For A Reason

April 7

The Geauga Family YMCA is hosting Tri For A Reason, an indoor triathlon. Event consists of a 15 minute swim, 20 minute bike ride and 20 minute run.

Cost is $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers. Relay teams are $45 for members and $50 for nonmembers.

Proceeds benefit LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a zero-cost fitness program for cancer survivors.

Patchwork Benefit

April 13, 5:30 p.m.

Enjoy an evening celebrating the achievements and continued progress of DDC Clinic at the Federated Church Family Life Center in Bainbridge Township. The 19th annual event includes dinner, drinks, music, basket raffle, and live and silent auctions.

He will use stories from Cleveland’s past to shine a light on critical business values that can drive and sustain business leaders through the most challenging times.
