The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office March 8-14, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 336 calls during this seven-day period.
AGENCY ASSIST
March 14
3:21 p.m., E. 314th Street, Willowick. Bomb squad call out suspicious package. K-9 Argo deployed to search the area and packages on the steps to the home. Argo showed no interest in any of the packages on the steps. A bomb tech then opened the packages discovering the package was filled with narcotics.
CITIZEN ASSIST
March 11
12:09 p.m., Auburn Road, Auburn. Caller is in the lobby and needed a deputy to assist her about something that happened at the senior center. Complainant never received a $120 Avon Products commission check. Advice given.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
March 9
7:10 p.m., Thrasher Road, Troy. Wife pulled a gun on him and he took it away. Male is outside and wife inside the house. Male was sleeping and wife was upset. Both have been intoxicated. One arrested.
EXTRA PATROL
March 11
12:09 p.m., Jackson Drive, Burton. Caller is concerned about people flying up and down Jackson Drive. He is afraid someone will hit a kid when they are going to the bus in the morning. He says it happens often in the morning when people are leaving and kids are getting on the bus as well as in the afternoon when people are returning from work. Extra patrol.
FRAUD
March 12
1:14 p.m., Kile Road, Claridon. Got a call from Medicare/Medicaid and caller asked for Medicare number which they should have had. They called back to confirm her ordering a back brace, which they never ordered. Caller had her write things down and gave her some strange information. She would like to make a report. Complainant did not give out any of her personal information. She will contact Medicare. Advice given.
March 14
2:22 p.m., Leader Road, Hambden. In the lobby to report fraud. Victim gave collection agency $884.13 on his credit card. Victim actually owes collection agency $300.85.
HARASSMENT
March 12
12:53 p.m., Daniel Lane, Hambden. Complainant advised she has had several calls from subjects saying they are from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. She can hear laughing in the background and then they hang up. Caller ID. Attempted to contact caller with no success. Female advised to block number.
OVERDOSE
March 12
9:28 a.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Male called his brother to take him to hospital to commit himself, but he is out of now, semiconscious. He does use drugs, possibly heroin. Rescue squad found subject suffering from an apparent drug overdose and Narcan was given to him. Transported to the ER by the FD. No drug evidence was seen at the scene. Clear.
SUSPICIOUS
March 8
6:10 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Caller advised last night she noticed the neighbor’s car parked at an odd angle in the driveway with the headlights on. Caller advised she just woke up and the car is still in the same spot with the headlights still on. Per deputy male checks OK.
THREATENING
March 13
11:43 a.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. ER. We have family of bed #15. They are threatening the doctor and coroner. We would lie them escorted off the property. No assistance needed. Call reopened. Assisted.
TRAFFIC CRASH
March 12
6:59 p.m., Burrows Road, Montville. One vehicle tipped into the ditch; unable to see anyone. Deputy advised. Vehicle is there; male left on foot with his dog. Male arrested for OVI after driving his vehicle into the ditch.
