Jobs Fair an Overwhelming Success
In an amazing demonstration of support and the intended cultivation of the future workforce of the local community, more than 70 businesses and organizations attended the Geauga County Jobs Fair hosted in the Berkshire Junior-Senior gymnasium on April 11. The number of businesses in attendance at the Jobs Fair is the most that the Ohio Means Jobs organization, which sponsored and promoted the event, has seen at any similarly hosted event to date.
Berkshire High School students had the opportunity to walk into a virtual hub of job and internship opportunities, meet and engage with employers and entities that are seeking help during afterschool hours or over the summer.
Businesses that featured a red-colored balloon at their booth signified available internship opportunities. The Armed Services recruiters featured red, white and blue balloons to attract students seeking opportunities to serve the country.
The Berkshire Local Schools would like to thank the Ohio Means Jobs organization for their help, support and promotion of the event as well as each and every business or entity that participated as well. Preparing students with future-ready skills is a top priority of the district and Berkshire expresses its collective gratitude to everyone involved who made the event successful.
New SRO Introduced
Deputy Andy Supinski was recently introduced to the Berkshire Local Schools as the new, incoming student resource officer for the district. He replaces a vacancy that was created when the previous SRO departed to pursue other opportunities.
Deputy Supinski brings 27 years of experience to the position as a law enforcement official with the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office. He is very excited to begin positively engaging with students and becoming integrated into the Berkshire Schools family.
Among Deputy Supinski’s most important roles, he will be responsible for ensuring school safety, teaching classes about various topics and serving as a safety resource for unforeseen circumstances. Though his office is at Berkshire Junior-Senior High School, he makes routine weekly visits to Ledgemont and Burton Elementary on a weekly basis or as needed and requested by building principals. The Berkshire Local Schools welcomes Deputy Supinski as the new student resource officer and looks forward to leveraging his many years in public safety and law enforcement to meaningfully benefit students.
