The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 12-18, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 379 calls during this seven-day period.
ASSAULT
April 15
3:55 p.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Female nurse in 2 North was punched in the face by a patient. She is now in the ER and wants to press charges. Patient is restrained. Report taken.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
April 16
7:59 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Newbury. Caller says she and her son had an agreement to switch vehicles for a while. Now the son is demanding compensation for it and disputing on how to best return the vehicles. Caller would like some advice. Deputy advised.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
April 18
12:49 a.m., Susan Lane, Hambden. Wants his girlfriend out of the house because she has been lying to him. Nothing physical; male has been drinking and is highly agitated. Male upset because he found out his girlfriend has been lying to him about money in another bank account. Neither person would leave the home for the night. Male said they will stay separated and he would begin eviction process tomorrow.
FRAUD
April 15
5:21 p.m., Whitney Road, Montville. His mother has been giving her personal information to someone on the phone stating she won Publisher’s Clearinghouse. She already sent him money and gave him all her credit card and bank information. Deputy advised. Report and advice provided.
INJURED PERSON
April 12
1 p.m., Georgia Road, Middlefield. 15-year-old girl on a scooter hit a parked UPS truck. Laceration and bloody nose, knot on forehead. Transported to hospital.
LITTERING
April 13
10:10 a.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Someone dumped a load of shingles on the property. Deputy advised.
OVERDOSE
April 12
8:49 p.m., Clay Street, Thompson. 37-year-old male is in and out of consciousness. He is combative with caller and he was outside naked. Caller does not think he took anything else. No weapons. Male appeared under the influence of a narcotic and kept nodding off. FD transported to Geauga hospital for treatment.
SUSPICIOUS
April 13
2:42 a.m., Clay Street, Montville. Out checking on a vehicle in the back. Male was advised park was closed. He said he was back there “thinking.” Male was advised to move on.
THEFT
April 13
10:10 a.m., Water Street, Chardon. Just had a drive off, eastbound from Chardon Oil. Male didn’t pay for gas. Employee stated it happens because the machines are slow. Sheriff’s deputy went to male’s house and made contact. He is on his way to pay now.
April 16
4:29 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Female is at self-storage business and her unit has been opened, the lock cut off and her property was taken. Front desk will not tell her who requested the lock be cut off, but she believes her property was stolen. Civil dispute between recreation board and storage business. Vacate date was not followed and the park property was removed by a former recreation board member. Advised to contact an attorney for additional contractual violations.
April 17
7:18 p.m., Osmond Road, Claridon. Granddaughter stole credit card and used it at Walmart, value $400. Also went to cell phone store and charged a $600 phone to grandmother’s account. Deputy advised. Report to follow.
