Sheriff’s Report
June 14-20, 2019
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 14-20, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 350 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
June 20
12:20 p.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. Caller’s dog is wrapped in the neighbor’s chicken fence wire. Caller needs assistance to help untangle the dog. Dog’s mouth is bleeding. Caller advised to come directly to backyard. Deputy advised. Dog cut free; no obvious injury.
ASSAULT
June 19
11:26 p.m., Old Rider Road, Burton. Male assaulted the caller. Argument over another male touching her. Female states she is OK; he smacked her around. Male in the house. No weapons as they were taken away from him in December. Male has been drinking a little bit. Male has barricaded himself in the residence. Report taken. Will issue warrant.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
June 14
7:48 p.m., View Drive, Newbury. Spoke with complainant who stated he believes his brother was cutting down more trees. They are currently in a dispute over property line. Complainant stated he has a surveyor coming next week over the property line. Met with brother who was grinding stumps. Advice given to both parties.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
June 15
1:23 p.m., North State Avenue, Middlefield. Argument between male and female. Domestic has been pushing today. Female believes she may have stabbed him with knife trying to defend herself. Female is bleeding on the hand. Male went inside. Unknown if he has a weapon; there are weapons inside the house.
FRAUD
June 14
5:25 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Was scammed out of $175 for tickets he never received. Deputy advised. Complainant wired unknown subject $150 through Zelle app for Zac Brown Bank tickets that he found on craigslist. Complainant never received the tickets from subject after wiring the money. Complainant already filed claim with bank. IR only.
HARASSMENT
June 20
1:48 p.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Would like to speak to a deputy about harassment taking place against caller and her daughter. Caller’s ex-boyfriend was riding a 4-wheeler on the property last night and also posted a picture on Instagram that he has his AR-15 back in his possession. Caller is going to attempt to get a protection order against the male.
SUSPICIOUS
June 14
10:16 p.m., Bartholomew Road, Auburn. Between Thorpe and Auburn roads there is a truck in the access drive to the back of LaDue. Caller is concerned about night hunting. Two coyote hunters hunting on the public hunting area. Checked OK. Clear.
June 15
1:19 p.m., Plank Road, Thompson. At the house and there is someone passed out in the barn from meth. Caller advised he spoke with family and she has a warrant but is lying about her name. Caller said female keeps getting assaulted by her son. He also is passed out in the garage or barn. Report to follow.
THREATENING
June 14
1:19 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Receiving threats via cell and the Internet. Karma and they will come to property. Would like to file a report. Group on Facebook Troppers law by saving Trooper is harassing the homeowner. Homeowner is a category 2 rehab specialist for wildlife. Group is posting homeowner’s address and the group stated they are going to come to the address to look for a fawn the homeowner worked with. Fawn is not at location. Group also is calling the homeowner on her phone harassing her.
WEAPON OFFENSE
June 18
9:11 p.m., Bascom Road, Hambden. Caller states his neighbor is shooting from his porch out into a cornfield and there are deer out there. Deputy advised. Deputy spoke with neighbor who advised he allows a farmer to plant corn in his field and was shooting to scare the deer out of it. Neighbor advised he was not aiming at the deer or anywhere near them.
