June 21-27, 2019

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 21-27, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 408 calls during this seven-day period.

ASSAULT

June 21

12:37 a.m., Grant Street, Chardon. 21-year-old male just came into story and said he was assaulted. Unknown person beat him up, but he is unwilling to say who; he is afraid of them. Three subjects may still be in the area, but caller will not identify the vehicle. Caller advised there was no alcohol, drugs or weapons involved. He wants a ride home and has refused all other information. Male has head pain and is emotionally overwhelmed by the events; his face is swollen and he believes something is broken. Male is sick to his stomach and feels like he will pass out. Male victim transported to UH.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

June 26

10:03 a.m., Hobart Road, Parkman. Caller is reporting her neighbor is throwing rat poison onto her property and she would like to make a report. She has cats and is afraid they’ll get sick. Deputy advised. Neighbor stated they put mothballs on their own property to keep the snakes from the neighbor’s yard away. They do not believe mothballs were on the neighbor’s property. Advice given to both parties.

EXTRA PATROL

June 23

6:10 p.m., Widgeon Drive, Auburn. Caller has a Jetta in her backyard that did not have tires on it. She came home from work and noticed it now has tires on it. She does not know who put the tires on. She does not wish to have a deputy speak to her, but would like extra patrol. Checked OK.

FRAUD

June 25

12:17 p.m., Nauvoo Road, Middlefield. Counterfeit $50 bill. Deputy advised. Money is not fake.

SUSPICIOUS

June 22

4:31 p.m., Venus Road, Hambden. Caller would like to talk to a deputy about a suspicious male who stopped by saying he would pave his driveway for $2,100. When the caller did not agree, the party got frustrated and left. Advice given.

June 23

5:38 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Two males sleeping behind dumpster in sleeping bags. Subjects heading to Cleveland and then to Chicago. Subjects given a ride to Solon.

June 25

4:09 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Caller’s husband is going to meet someone claiming to be the U.S. Marshals and they to meet him because his SSN was compromised and he needs to meet them at Dollar General to give him a new card. No information provided to scammer; no loss at this time. Advice given.

June 27

9:10 p.m., Old State Road, Middlefield. Caller needs to make a report for a coworker who came to his house and tried to sell him a gun.

THEFT

June 24

2:05 p.m., Sherman Road, Munson. Complainant arrived at GCSO lobby in regard to the neighbor stealing rocks from the wooded area on his property. Complainant confronted neighbor who was pushing a wheelbarrow. He said he wanted his rocks back and seemed not to care. Complainant checked the woods this morning and the rocks were not put back. Deputy attempted to call neighbor and there was no answer nor could a voicemail be left. Deputy will do more follow ups to get rocks put back. Pending investigation.

June 27

8:48 a.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Iron Horse Saloon had a break in last night after midnight. Liquor room broken into and the registers are missing as well. One of the windows of the garage has been broken also. Subjects are gone.

7:18 p.m., Aldenshire Drive, Claridon. Caller states his girlfriend’s 24-year-old son stole three guitars, amp, a crossbow and several other items. He does reside at the house. Not in progress. Unknown where son currently is. He is a recovering heroin addict.
