Family Fun Day

Chesterland Baptist Church, 12670 Chillicothe Road, will host an event for the community, including bouncy houses, food, balloon twister, face painting, crafts and more. All activities and food are free.
School Supply Drive

Family Pride of Northeast Ohio is hosting its third annual school supply drive at the Middlefield Walmart. Help give area students a fresh start for the new school year.

Foundation For Parks Explorer Series
Aug. 3, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Foundation for Geauga Parkswill host its monthly Explorer Series at Headwaters Park, where a hike will begin at the north entrance, 15055 Mayfield Road. All are welcome to join the Foundation to discover some of the wonders along the Eagle Trail and a portion of the Ohio Buckeye Trail.
The adventure is free and open to the public. Well-behaved pets are welcome.

HomeGrown Under the Dome

Tickets are now on sale for Geauga Growth Partnership’s annual HomeGrown Under the Dome fundraising event at ASM International, 9639 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.
The evening features food, spirits, music, silent auction, raffles and homegrown entertainment.

VFW Philly Cheesesteaks
Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m.
Chardon VFW Post 6519 will serve Philly cheesesteak sandwiches for dinner every Wednesday in August. Cost is $6 per serving. Fresh cut fries are an additional $2. Open to the public, the post is located at 752 Water St.

Kiwanis Summer Concert Series
Aug. 7, 7-9 p.m.
The Kiwanis Club of West Geauga’s summer concert series continues at the gazebo in Chester Township Park with FM77. From their Fleetwood Mac tribute blocks to all the great music from disco to rock of the ‘70s and early ‘80s era, the group of five musicians brings back memories of those times.
In event of rain, the concert will be moved to Mayfield United Methodist Church, 7747 Mayfield Road, Chester Township.

Chardon Tomorrow Brewfest
Aug. 10, 12-5 p.m.
The eighth annual Chardon Brewfest will be held on Chardon Square. More than 25 local breweries will be featured, along with live music all day and onsite food vendors. Must be 21 or over to purchase a ticket. Everyone must show ID for entry. All proceeds benefit Chardon Tomorrow.

Raccoon County Music Festival
Aug. 10, 12-7 p.m.
The Raccoon County Music Festival will be held at the Geauga County Historical Society’s Century Village Museum, 14653 East Park St. in Burton. It will feature performances on two stages, square dancing, spontaneous jamming and more.
Food and drink will be available for sale, but event-goers may bring their own meals as well as chairs and blankets.
Admission is $10 for those 13 and older; $5 for children ages 6-12; and free for children under 6.

Upcoming Post 459 Events

Scrap Tire Collection
Aug. 17, 9 a.m. to noon
A scrap tire collection for Russell Township will be held at the township road garage located at 15625 Chillicothe Road.
There is a limit of eight tires per household. The tires must be dry and off the rim. Passenger and light truck tires only.
The event is limited to Russell Township residents only. No business or commercial drop-off.

Chicken Barbecue

Newbury American Legion Post 663 is hosting its annual chicken barbecue in the Hunter Pavilion behind the post at 11008 Kinsman Road, Newbury.
