The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 9-15, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 376 calls during this period.

AGENCY ASSIST

Aug. 12

12 p.m., Munn Road, Newbury. Make contact with elderly female. She went to a bank in South Russell and requested a loan application. They feel she is a victim of a scam. When they tried to explain the scam to her, she became angry and left. They would like a deputy to go speak to her and try to intervene before she wires the money overseas. Deputy responded and female upset GCSO was called, and appears she believes it is a true business, but said she would look into it further. Deputy tried to explain it was a scam and not to give any money or personal information. Female then wanted information on calling FBI because of government corruption. Advice given.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Aug. 12

1:18 p.m., Jug Road, Troy. Pony and donkey in the road. UTL/GOA.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Aug. 9

3:33 p.m., Clark Road, Chardon. Female is stuck in her garage due to the electricity that went out. She’s not strong enough to lift garage door. Assistance rendered. She is out of the garage.

Aug. 14

5:11 p.m., Burrows Road, Montville. Requesting an officer for a standard board meeting. They are removing two members from the board. Caller believes the subjects are going to be resistant. Removal will take place at beginning of Montmere Lake Association meeting.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Aug. 11

1:25 p.m., Leader Road, Hambden. Kids in the neighborhood are kicking balls into everyone’s yards. They have no respect for adults. Caller would like to speak with a deputy. Advice given. Extra patrol requested for kids causing problems.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

Aug. 9

4:21 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Verbal dispute over paternity. No weapons, alcohol or drugs. Female would like advice on trying to get him to leave. No violence. Report to follow.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Aug. 13

2:18 a.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Caller advised there was a woman at their door stating she had been abused by her husband. Female states she was hit in the back of the head. Female advised male “owns a lot of guns.” Male knows female left. No children involved. Male held female against her will for about an hour. Both parties have been drinking. No drugs. Male arrested for DV and other charges.

EXTRA PATROL

Aug. 11

1:36 p.m., Clay Street, Huntsburg. Caller’s 16-year-old son will be home alone and caller is concerned he will have a party while the parents are gone for a few hours today. Extra patrol.

HARASSMENT

Aug. 9

1:37 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Receiving threatening and blackmail messages. Blocked the number and it is now coming from another number.

OVERDOSE

Aug. 11

11:01 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. 19-year-old male is turning blue, possible overdose. Deputy advised. Squad transported after two doses of Narcan. Unknown substance; male would not say.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Aug. 10

11:32 a.m., Chardon Windsor Road, Claridon. This morning around 2:45 a.m. caller heard a loud boom and this morning when caller went outside there is a huge hole in the porch roof. No one was injured. Unknown object came through the roof. Possible explosion caused damage.

SUSPICIOUS

Aug. 9

6:33 p.m., Williamsburg Court, Auburn. Fraud caller states a company wired $5,000 to his account and now wants his bank information. Caller notified his bank to freeze his accounts just in case. Caller also was provided with TransUnion’s info as well as the IR number for filing a report with TransUnion.

Aug. 10

12:05 a.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Caller states there are people standing outside with masks on. Caller also states one of the people kicked in the door and has a gun. Around eight people standing outside of the store. One of the people possibly had an AK. Deputy advised. Crew filming a zombie movie. Checked OK.

THEFT

Aug. 9

12:17 p.m., Mulberry Road, Munson. Honda weed trimmer stolen. Breach of verbal agreement. Advice given.

Aug. 13

1:40 p.m., Sperry Road, Newbury. Subject in lobby to report stolen guns. Report taken.

VANDALISM

Aug. 14

5:30 p.m., Terrace Drive, Middlefield. Caller reports someone put animal feces on his door. Also smeared on the ‘no trespassing’ sign. Complainant called back to say person across the street was yelling at him and the son was filming him. Complainant wants incident documented.
