The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 23-29, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 415 calls during this period.
FRAUD
Aug. 23
12:31 p.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Complainant in lobby wanting to file a fraud report. Complainant said her payroll company received emails from someone that added a letter to hers. Payroll company sent a payment of $6,870. Payment was stopped and victim is not out any money.
HARASSMENT
Aug. 25
9:32 p.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. Caller states his neighbor is harassing his minor child. He is yelling at her for riding her bike close to her lawn. Caller also stated neighbor starts rumors throughout the park about him that are not true. Caller stated he is going to courthouse tomorrow morning to file for slander/defamation of character. Advice given.
OVERDOSE
Aug. 29
10:07 p.m., Goredon Drive, Aquilla. 26-year-old male possible overdose on heroin. He is on the living room floor. Caller has retrieved a needle and heroin. Unknown male last name; he has been staying with caller for about a week. Male is trying to speak now. Squad transported. See report.
SICK/INJURED ANIMAL
Aug. 26
7:35 a.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Sick coyote #9 fairway. Deputy advised. Fox was not sick or injured, so deputy left it alone. Clear.
SUSPICIOUS
Aug. 24
10:55 a.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Female down by the water. She said she was doing a census but didn’t have an idea she was on a river. She thought it was a lake. GOA/UTL.
11:27 a.m., Newcomb Road, Middlefield. Female said there is a mob of people following her. She said people are following her because she spanked her child. She has four children with her. She said people were taking pictures of her and her vehicle. Deputy spoke with complainant who said when she was shopping her son was out of control so she took him outside and spanked him. Another female saw and started yelling at her. Deputy advised complainant it was not against the law to spank her child nor against the law for people to take photos or videos in a public place. Advice given. Another deputy saw the other female and told her same.
Aug. 28
4:56 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Female stated she is being held captive. Very poor reception. Dispatch unable to get a lot number. Came in on 911 cell; unable to call it back. Checked area. UTL anyone in distress.
THEFT
Aug. 23
8:12 p.m., Chardon Windsor Road, Hambden. Female stole money from produce stand. Same female stole money last week. They haver video of female doing this. They also have her plate number. See report.
Aug. 25
4:03 p.m., Kile Road, Montville. At the Lazy River at Pioneer Waterland a guest had between $200 and $300 stolen. Caller will meet with deputy near the walkway near the parking lot. Deputy advised. Declined to pursue charges, would not cooperate with investigation.
Aug. 26
3:21 p.m., Spicebush Lane, Auburn. Gold necklace stolen out of residence; believe it was the cleaning crew. Theft sometime within the past month. Report taken.
WATER RESCUE
Aug. 23
2:01 p.m., U.S. 422, Auburn. Sailboat partially capsized. Male hanging off boat with life jacket. North side of 422 about 1,000 feet east of bridge. Deputy advised. ODNR was contacted by fire department. Boater OK. Fire department forwarded information to watercraft.
