Climate change will be the topic of the next meeting of the Geauga County Tea Party at the West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road, Russell Township. Sam Horowitz, climate investigator, and James MacNeal, specialty gases chemist, will present “CO2-NOT the Culprit You Have Been Told: Some Things You Just Might Want to Know Before Making up Your mind.”

CV Herb Society Meets

Sept. 20, 12:30 p.m.

Danny Pollack, a Burton producer, will present “Making Maple Syrup in Geauga County” at the next meeting of the Chagrin Valley Herb Society at the Bainbridge Library. The program will begin after refreshments and a brief business meeting.

Rescue Mission Italian Dinner

Sept. 20, 5-7 p.m.

Parkman Congregational Church is hosting its monthly fundraising dinner for the Geauga Faith Rescue Mission at the church located at 18265 Madison Road, Middlefield.

September’s dinner features lasagna and assorted pastas. Donation is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors over 65, $6 for children 5-10. Free to children under 5. Carryout is available

Free Community Breakfast

Sept. 21, 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Ledgewood Christian Church is hosting its free community breakfast at the church located at 8261 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, salmon patties, juice, coffee and tea. Ample parking is available in the rear of the church building. All are welcome.

Honey Bee Fest

Sept. 21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The first annual Honey Bee Festival will take place at John’s Country Nursery on Old State Road in Middlefield. For beekeepers and non-beekeepers alike, enjoy homegrown handcrafted items, food vendors, music, children’s entertainment, mini seminars, OSU Master Gardener volunteers and more.

Fall Festival at the Pines

Sept. 21, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Inn at the Pines is hosting a fall festival at its facility located at 18144 Claridon Troy Road in Hiram.

The event, which is open to the community, will feature face painting, games, snacks and a mobile petting zoo. Meet local first responders and Guapo, Hiram’s first K-9 officer.

Geauga Dems Steak Roast

Sept. 21, 6 p.m.

Judge Mary Jane Trapp will be the speaker at the Geauga County Democratic Party’s annual steak roast at the party headquarters located in Newbury Township. Join like-minded friends to discuss local and national politics.

Ohioans for Gun Safety will be hosting a drive by petition signing at the Democratic Headquarters on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Help end gun violence by signing the statewide petition to add expanded background checks to the ballot in 2020.

Wine and Beer Tasting

Sept. 26, 6-9 p.m.

Friends of WomenSafe is partnering with Adams Reserve Cheddar to host the 10th annual wine and beer tasting event at the Sharon James Cellars, 11303 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township.

The evening includes live music for dancing, heavy appetizers, 50/50 raffle, gift raffle and wine pull.

A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $50. Cost is $35 per person or $25 for adults not wishing to sample wine.

Christmas In The Barn

The sixth annual Christmas in the Barn at Fullercrest craft show and sale will take place at 6415 Windsor Mechanicsville Road in Orwell. The sale features craft artisans, gifts and commercial vendors.

CVCC Open House

The Chagrin Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting its community open house at the Chagrin Falls Middle School. The free family event highlights where community meets local business.

All vendors will offer one day deals and there will be a children’s area with activities. There will also be a special performance from the cast of “Annie” from the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre plus a princess sing-a-long with Moana and Ana.

Protect Geauga Parks

Munson Guided Trail Hike

Oct. 5, 10:30 a.m. and noon

Celebrate the opening of the new 1.1-mile trail at Scenic River Retreat by hiking with a naturalist from the Western Reserve Land Conservancy. Dress for the weather and wear waterproof footwear. Information will be available about the contributors to the trail, the Foundation for Geauga Parks and ODNR NatureWorks. Light refreshments will be provided.

Fall Event Benefits Cat Sanctuary

“A Purr-Fect Autumn Afternoon” will benefit the non-profit, no-kill Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary. The fundraiser will be held at the Cana Winery, 10036 Wilson Mills Road, Munson Township.

The event, featuring variety-filled food stations, a silent auction, 50-50 raffle and cash bar, is $45 per person.

Geauga Benefit Auction

The 19th annual benefit auction for D.D.C. Clinic – Center for Special Needs Children will be held at the Buster Miller farm, 17719 Newcomb Road, Middlefield. Breakfast starts at 5:30 a.m.; the auction begins at 9 a.m. Lunch begins at 10:30 a.m.
