Sept. 6-12, 2019

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 6-12, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 373 calls during this period.

ASSAULT

Sept. 7

12:13 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Two males fighting in the parking lot. Male who is the aggressor is leaving in a red truck. Caller does not know the male who was being attacked. Caller states when male aggressor walked out of the store he just started attacking the other male, smacked him across the face, got him on the ground and started beating him. Caller told them to stop and they did when she called. Deputy located male standing outside of a red truck on Kinsman. He advised he confronted another male at Marathon because he believes he sells methamphetamine and it escalated into a fight. Declined any kind of charges. Nothing to report.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Sept. 7

7:31 a.m., Fox Wood Drive, Chardon. Caller is at work. She said her teenage daughter snuck her teenage boyfriend in the house. Caller wants boyfriend removed and off the property. Deputy spoke to daughter. She said her boyfriend is here. Told her that her mom wanted him to leave. She said she would make that happen.

Sept. 11

6:14 p.m., Winchester Drive, Munson. Complainant wanted to have an incident documented. Her dog ran into the neighbor’s yard and neighbor stated he would shoot the dog if it attacked him. Advice given to both parties.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Sept. 9

7:03 p.m., Sherman Road, Munson. Subject contacted the 23-year-old caller via Facebook and told her to kill herself or she would. Caller does not have any threatening messages on her phone and the conversation she is having with subject she willingly participates in. Advice given to caller to stop all contact with subject, who caller doesn’t even have a phone number for since all communication is through a messaging app, as well as the boyfriend, which started the whole incident.

FRAUD

Sept. 7

11:09 a.m., Rapids Road, Troy. Someone wrote bad checks to the business. Deputy advised. Male subject has been buying blueberries all summer. He owes $282 and wrote a check. Check has not been cashed yet, but bank advised the funds weren’t available. Under investigation.

HARASSMENT

Sept. 8

12:37 a.m., GAR Highway, Montville. Three motorcyclists giving bartender a hard time, didn’t want to leave. They have left but one bike still there. Verbal only between patrons. No threats. Two bikes waiting to be towed because both males suspended and no endorsement. Two males left with Uber.

Sept. 9

10:17 a.m., Drury Lane, Chester. Complainant said he is a victim of ethnic intimidation, civil liberties violation. He wants to meet with a deputy and file a complaint against township police officers. Deputy advised. Report taken.

OVERDOSE

Sept. 9

10:44 p.m., Swine Creek Road, Middlefield. 67-year-old overdose, known heroin user. Male is in the camper. Female is going to administer Narcan. Male is convulsing. Male summoned for drug paraphernalia.

SUSPICIOUS

Sept. 8

10:11 a.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Male with silver teeth across from Iron Horse. Male is getting into a car. Male does not speak English. He has fishing poles but is leaving now. Caller tried to explain it was private property. Deputy advised of call. Caller is leaving but would like area checked.

Sept. 11

4:27 a.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Caller advised his phone was hacked and the person who hacked the phone is posting photos of his “overnight guest” on Facebook and Google. Caller believes the person who hacked his phone is from Newbury. Report to follow.

WEAPONS OFFENSE

Sept. 7

4:35 p.m., Snow Road, Auburn. Someone shot out one of caller’s windows. Happened a couple of hours ago. You can see the bullet hole, but could not find the bullet. No one shooting at this time. Valley Road residence was where the shooting happened. Complainant does not want any charges criminally, but wants the window replaced. Shooter agreed to pay for the window and contact information was exchanged. Shooter was advised to use a proper backstop as well.
