Opinion Featured On PBS

Jordak Elementary School fourth-grader Gage W. had his opinion on creating a ban to protect the environment and wildlife featured on the WVIZ/PBS ideastream program “NewsDepth.”

Gage wrote that wildlife is an essential part of the environment and to help protect it he would, “create a ban against paved roads in areas where animals populate. One reason is because animals might get hurt or die if a car hits them. Another reason is that trees or grass which animals use for homes or food would be cut down.”

We asked Gage how he felt when he saw his opinion featured when watching the program in Mrs. Charlotte Torre’s class and he said, “good.”  Way to go Gage – keep up the great work!

Career Day

Eighth-graders had a great day Thursday traveling the county visiting various businesses as part of the Geauga Growth Partnership, Inc.’s Career Day. Each year scholars do this as a way to learn more about the various types of businesses that are out there.

Students traveled to Best Sand, Geauga Mechanics and University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. Each business gave a presentation to scholars followed by a tour of facilities. Some even participated in work-related activities such as giving CPR and using computer-aided design to inspect ductwork.

Thank you to the GGP for organizing the day and to the businesses for showing our scholars around.
