The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 11-17, 2019. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 338 calls during this period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Oct. 15
12:23 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Neighboring property has a hole in the fence and the goats keep going on the golf course. They are now on the property. Would like assistance notifying the owners to get the fence fixed. Goats were located and the caretaker of the property is going to get them. Fence will be fixed. Complainant is happy.
FRAUD
Oct. 11
2:03 p.m., Chardon Windsor Road, Claridon. Fraudulent charge on credit card. Old Navy credit card was used for $97 that she did not make. Old Navy stated it knew it was fraudulent but could not stop delivery. IR number provided.
LITTERING
Oct. 15
4:30 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller just witnessed a man in a silver Nissan Ultima leave his garbage and several furniture items at the Newbury recycling center. Plate is not valid. Will make contact with Newbury Township to have items removed.
SUSPICIOUS
Oct. 11
4:13 a.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Called into Chagrin Falls PD nurse stated a female was brought in severely beaten and was being taken to ICU, domestic that happened at her East Washington Street address. She stated she does not want to press charges. Female came in for overdose around 11 p.m. Has a new boyfriend that she has lived with for the past 1-3 years. Female told the doctor she took a handful of pills because she is not “valued by her boyfriend.” Per deputy, female is not of sound mind at this time. ER was advised when female is alert to call and GCSO will send someone to speak with her. Female stated she took pills to stop her restless leg symptoms. Stated she did not get beat up by anyone.
Oct. 12
10:07 a.m., Paulette Drive, Burton. Caller says that he just bought a foreclosed house from a mortgage company in California. They gutted it down to the framing and found something with the house kind of bizarre. He said they found a few things that led him to believe the former owners held slaves or captives. He would like someone to come and take a look at it. Checks OK.
THEFT
Oct.17
4:15 p.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Daughter’s phone was stolen at WG but is locating at the above address. Caller is hoping for assistance attempting to retrieve it. Phone not found. Many people in house. Deputy gave 24 hours to get phone returned.
