Geauga Dems Talk Impeachment
Oct. 24, 6 p.m.
Raymond Ku, professor of law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, will be speaking on impeachment at the Geauga County Democratic Party’s hot topic spaghetti dinner being held at party headquarters located at 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township.
Cost is $13 for members and $25 for nonmembers.
Preceding the dinner from 4-7 p.m., Ohioans for Gun Safety will be sponsoring a petition drive to expand background checks on gun purchases at the party headquarters.
Candidates And Issues Night
Oct. 24, 7-9 p.m.
Newbury Area Kiwanis Club will sponsor a candidates and issues night in the Newbury School Auditorium, 14775 Auburn Road, Newbury Township. The moderated evening will begin with timed candidate presentations and audience questions, followed by speakers representing issues that will be on the November ballot.
Following the presentations, the gathering will adjourn to the Newbury Station Library for coffee and dessert.

Fall Harvest

Families are invited to a fall harvest at Mayfield Church located at 7747 Mayfield Road in Chester Township. The free event includes a hayride, snacks, crafts, s’mores and more. Children are encouraged to wear their non-scary Halloween costumes.
International Dinner
Oct. 26, 5-6:30 p.m.
Newbury United Community Church, 14916 Auburn Road, is hosting its 50th annual International Dinner. Cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12 and free for children under 6. Family cost for two adults and two or more children is $25.
Bluegrass at Hambden Grange
Oct. 26, 6 p.m.
Hambden Grange will host Mark Posey’s Doghouse Entertainment Bluegrass Jamboree, featuring Vertical Limit and Hidden Drive. Doors open at 6 p.m.; show starts at 7 p.m.
Food stand is available. Tickets are $10 for adults. Children under 11 are free.
The Grange is located at 9778 Old State Road, Chardon.
Audubon Monitors Beaty Landing
Oct. 27, 8 a.m.
Join Blackbrook Audubon for its monthly Important Bird Area survey at Beaty Landing. Park at the lower lot of Beaty Landing, 543 East Walnut Ave., Painesville.
Blackbrook will monitor this site on the fourth Sunday of each month at least until March 22. The list of birds found is posted on eBird.org. The trail is rated moderate on compacted gravel and has multiple access points to view the Grand River.

American Legion Council Breakfast

The American Legion, Geauga County Council is holding an early bird pancake breakfast to benefit Geauga County veterans in need at the Atwood-Mauck Post 459 located at 14052 Goodwin St. in Burton.
Enjoy all-you-can eat buttermilk or blueberry pancakes with sausage or biscuits with gravy. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for youth 6-12 and free to children under 6.

AYCE Pancake Breakfast

Girl Scout Troop 70563 with the help of the Chardon VFW Post 6519 is hosting a special off-season all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at the post located at 752 Water St. in Chardon.
Prices range from $6 to $9, cash only. All proceeds will support the Gold Award projects of troop members.
DTJ Chicken and Duck Dinner

DTJ Taborville is having its final chicken and duck dinner of the year at 9850 North Blvd, Auburn Township. Cost is $12.50 for an adult dinner and $6.50 for a children’s chicken dinner. A half duck dinner is $17.50.

Gift Of Magi Boutique
Nov. 8 and 9
A preview party for the annual Gift for the Magi holiday boutique will be held Nov. 9 from 7-9 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township. For adults only, the $5 admission includes preview of the boutique, music, hors d’oeuvres and wine.
The boutique runs Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features handcrafted items by more than 35 juried crafters and a raffle for a handcrafted Scrappy Lost Sock quilt. Admission is free.
Join the Boutique Bounce on Nov. 8 and 9. Shoppers who visit the boutiques of St. Anselm and St. Mark churches in Chester Township and Old South Church in Kirtland will be eligible for one of three grand prizes. Begin the bounce at any of the churches and get the card stamped at each location.
