Charlotte’s Web Movie
The entire Jordak Elementary School student body enjoyed a fun start to the Thanksgiving break with the movie “Charlotte’s Web.” They had been reading the book for the Promoting Family Literacy / One School One Book event throughout November.
Prior to starting the movie, winners of the writing contest were announced. To go along with reading the book, students had the option of also participating in a writing contest where they had to answer the question, “What is a good friend?” There was one winner selected per class. Winners were were: Andrew T., Ava O., Gabby W., Emerson C., Dominic R., Lyric S., Kendalyn L., Jordyn M., Navaeh W., Alexander L., Katie H., Olivia K., Brooklyn S., Ava H., Natalie S. and Emily B. Each writing contest winner received a small pig plush.
JES 3D Insects
Fourth-graders have been working in small groups in technology class to design and create their own insects. They started off discussing their insects’ habitat and what attributes they would want their insects to have. From there, they created a sketch of their ideas and then created models using items found in the Maker Space area in the library. With the help of their sketches and models, each group designed a 3D model using Tinkercad.
Once scholars determined their 3D model would stand and was structurally sound, they printed out their insects using our 3D printer. Teacher Danielle Kinder says the students worked so hard on this month-long project and their results were incredible.
