Rescue Village Winter Camp
Dec. 20 and 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Rescue Village’s Kids Winter Camp is open for registration. The camp is for children ages 9-11 and will be held at Rescue Village. Fee of $100 is due at the time of registration.
Campers will learn about adaptations in animals during the winter months and what they can do to help as well as engage in hands-on activities. Activities will be held indoors and outdoors.
Registration is limited. Camp applications are available online at www.rescuevillage.org or by calling Nicole Latosky at 440-338-4819 ext. 20.
Free Community Breakfast
Dec. 21, 8:30-10:30 a.m.
Ledgewood Christian Church is hosting its free community breakfast at the church located at 8261 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.
The menu includes pancakes, sausage, salmon patties, juice, coffee and tea. Ample parking is available in the rear of the church. All are welcome.
BCUCC Cookie Walk
Dec. 21, 9 a.m. to noon
Bainbridge Community United Church of Christ is hosting its annual cookie walk. Select from a wide variety of cookies at $9 per pound.
All proceeds benefit the ministry of the church and its ongoing efforts to support the community. The church is located at 17751 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township.
Audubon Monitors Beaty Landing
Dec. 22, 8 a.m.
Accompany Blackbrook as members continue their monthly Important Bird Area (IBA) survey at Beaty Landing in the Grand River – Lower Watershed IBA. Park at the lower lot located at 543 East Walnut Ave, Painesville.
Blackbrook will monitor this site on the fourth Sunday of each month at least until March 22. The list of birds found is posted on eBird.org.

CV Jaycees Chili Brew-Off
The Chagrin Valley Jaycees will soon be hosting their annual chili brew off and welcome all local chili brew-masters to enter their recipes.
Deadline for entries is Jan. 9 and participants may enter into one of three categories – service member teams, amateur teams and restaurant teams. Entries will be judged he day by three expert chili tasters.

Geauga Skywatchers Club
Jan. 6, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Join Skywatchers for “Exploring our Solar System” at Burton Public Library. The hands-on club is geared towards youth in grades 6-12, although all are welcome. Monthly classes and astronomy activities are taught by members of the Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society.
Telescopes are now available for loan through local Geauga County libraries.
Programs are made possible through collaboration of Foundation for Geauga Parks, Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society, Geauga County Library System, Burton Public Library and Geauga Park District.
Ohio Justice Speaks at Chesterland Rotary
Jan. 15, 7 a.m.
Ohio Supreme Court Justice Judith French will speak at the Chesterland Rotary Club on the topic, “The Supreme Court of Ohio: What We Do, How We Do It, and Why It’s Important.”
Rotary will be held at the Mayfield United Methodist Church, 7747 Mayfield Road, on the corner of Caves and Mayfield roads.
All are welcome to attend.
