Bill Mahoney, managing director of ASM International, will present “ASM’s Renewal – Crossing the Digital Divide” at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) Breakfast at Kent State University at Geauga 14111 Claridon Troy Road, Burton.

Bill Mahoney, managing director of ASM International, will present “ASM’s Renewal – Crossing the Digital Divide” at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) Breakfast at Kent State University at Geauga 14111 Claridon Troy Road, Burton. Learn what it took to achieve its digital transformation without major disruptions.

Benefit Dinner and Auction

Jan. 10, 5 p.m.

A benefit dinner and auction for Bill and Mary Troyer will be held at Century Village Museum’s Bond Building. Benefit it to help with medical expenses for Mary’s cancer treatment.

A pizza and soup dinner is by donation. Tickets for the Chinese auction, big ticket items and 50/50 raffle will be sold. Donations are welcome.
Make checks out to ACAP, with Mary Troyer Benefit in the memo line and mailed to GCHS, PO Box 153, Burton, OH 44021.

VFW Wednesday Dinners

Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m.

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will serve lasagna dinners every Wednesday in January at the post located at 752 Water St. Donation is $7. The public is welcome.

Ohio Justice Speaks at Chesterland Rotary

Jan. 15, 7 a.m.

Ohio Supreme Court Justice Judith French will speak at the Chesterland Rotary Club on the topic, “The Supreme Court of Ohio: What We Do, How We Do It, and Why It’s Important.”

Rotary will be held at the Mayfield United Methodist Church, 7747 Mayfield Road, Chester Township. All are welcome to attend.

Woodland Wednesdays Workshop

Jan. 15, 6-7:30 p.m.

The Geauga Soil and Water Conservation, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, ODNR Ohio Division of Forestry and Geauga County Farm Bureau are teaming up to provide the “Increase Your Wealth and Woodland Health Workshop” at the Patterson Center, 14269 Claridon-Troy Road, Burton.

Join to explore tools and resources to sustainably and profitably manage woodlands on one’s property. Learn about federal programs that can help achieve timber and wildlife goals for the new year.

CV Herb Society Meets

Jan. 17, 12:30 p.m.

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library. Guests are welcome. Wellness expert Jennifer Cecere from Fly2Wellness will speak at 1:30 p.m. on mindfulness and motivation. Bring a mug for refreshments. A business meeting, including new officer installation, begins at 1 p.m.

Free Community Breakfast

Jan. 18, 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Ledgewood Christian Church is hosting its free community breakfast at the church located at 8261 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, salmon patties, juice, coffee and tea. Ample parking is available in the rear of the church. All are welcome.

Geauga Dems Hot Topic Dinner

Jan. 23, 6:30 p.m.

Dennis Schmidt, retired Cleveland Clinic psychiatrist, will talk about ways to maintain one’s sanity during the 2020 election season at the Geauga County Democratic Party’s hot topic dinner being held at party headquarters located at 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township.

Dinner and dessert will be served. Cost is $13 for members and $25 for nonmembers.

Cub Scout Benefit Dinner

Jan. 24, 4:30-7:30 p.m.

A spaghetti dinner and auction by the Middlefield Cub Scout Pack 3141 Boy Scouts of America is being held at Parkman Community House on U.S. Route 422 in Parkman Township.

Tickets purchased in advance are $9 for adults, $5 ages 5-12. Kids under 5 eat for free. At the door tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for ages 5-12. Carryout dinners are available.

Auction tickets will be sold during dinner, with the auction drawing at 7 p.m. Those entering the 50/50 must be present.

Presale tickets are available at the scout meetings that begin at 7 p.m. every Tuesday at Middlefield United Methodist Church, 14999 S. State Ave., or by calling Monique at 216-337-2104.

Event is sponsored by Friends of Pack 3141 and 100 percent of proceeds will benefit the pack.
