The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 17-23, 2020. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 339 calls during this period.

AGENCY ASSIST

Jan. 17

12:50 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. OSHP requesting a deputy to meet them at the Sunoco station and then accompany them to address on Williams to look for an individual. Assistance rendered. Negative contact.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Jan. 18

7:53 a.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. Horse and buggy heading eastbound, unoccupied. Horse is now heading through the lumber yard where Western Reserve used to be. Checked area. No unoccupied buggies on roadway.

BURGLARY

Jan. 22

4:47 p.m., Longview Drive, Newbury. Caller states his home was broken into. Window is broken, the door is open and all of caller’s guns are missing: .38 Colt revolver and a Highpoint .380 striker fired pistol. Nothing else taken. Person is suspected of the burglary and weapons theft. Report to follow. Reopened. Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office arrested male who is in custody for theft of automobile and possession of drugs. Male refused to sign Miranda warning and asked for attorney. Deputy shown a Silver Dollar coin in decorative box. Deputy called caller who said he is missing a coin matching that description. Among other items, ACSO also seized a cell phone and is initiating a warrant for the contents and communication.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Jan. 18

6:23 a.m., Stone Road, Newbury. Female is attempting to break into the house. She has a mask on. Made it into the home. Call has been disconnected. Kids are screaming in the background. Caller attempting to get kids upstairs. Female broke window with a shovel. Female caller has a knife and the male caller has a gun. Male put gun away. One female arrested.

FRAUD

Jan. 23

1:06 p.m., Sherman Road, Munson. Caller needs to report fraud. Publisher’s Clearing House scam. No money sent. Advice given.

2:02 p.m., Cinnabar Trail, Auburn. Party advised she received an email from a company pretending to be Microsoft. They wanted to upgrade her computer to Windows 10 for $199. She paid and then realized it was a scam after she had contacted Microsoft directly. Party canceled her credit card before the charge was able to go through. Advice given.

ROBBERY

Jan. 18

3:56 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Male wearing all gray with a ski mask, black male, unknown what he was driving. Male had a gun. No vehicle seen. Male we4nt out the front door and got into a white SUV. Gun was gray and black. Vehicle was a white Equinox. OSHP notified. Male had everyone on the ground by gunpoint. They believe the vehicle came from 528 and it left 422 eastbound toward Warren. Barrell was large silver in color with black. Male was in and out, approximately 30-40 seconds inside the store. Warren OSHP is attempting to catch up to a vehicle matching the description. OSHP advises not the vehicle. Report to follow.

7:14 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Robbed at gunpoint. Orange or gold Jeep Cherokee type. One male with a gun; unknown description, he was wearing a mask. Black mask with white skeleton mask. Left westbound on Route 6. No injuries. Unknown if anyone else in car. Kirtland notified. Suspect touched clerk’s arm, “Don’t say a word, open your register and give me all your money.” One customer in store with clerk. Doors locked now. Clerk believes he was black male and smelled of marijuana. Suspect over 6-feet tall, skinny build, saggy gray pants. Gun had silver barrel.

SUSPICIOUS

Jan. 17

1:09 a.m., Rock Creek Road, Hambden. Caller states she woke up to the sound of someone screaming in her house. Nobody is home with her. Female now states it might have been a night terror. She has not had them for a long time, but she experienced this before. Caller was advised a deputy would come by and check outside just to make sure everything is OK. Checked OK. Complainant had a bad dream.

2:34 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. While in Dollar General, a white male approximately 5-foot-5 with glasses and shaggy blonde hair was asking the caller and the clerk to clean a large amount of blood out of his vehicle. Caller is a customer. She said he was acting very strange. He told caller and the clerk that a male was bleeding so bad in his vehicle he dropped him off on a random road. Occurred about 20 minutes ago. Caller is now home. No locations, no names, no vehicle description. Male on video appears to be in his late 20s.

TRAFFIC STOP

Jan. 20

3:17 p.m., Erwin Drive, Burton. Silver Chevy. Citation issued for 63 in a 45. Once citation was issued, driver argued the citation and squealed his tires as he took off. Driver was stopped again for this and questioned why he pealed out when he took off. Driver argued he did not do that.
