Genetics in Honors Biology

Students in Mrs. Ledman’s Honors biology classes are learning about DNA and how it is used in the real world. Students collected samples from poodles that visited their classrooms. A cheek swab was administered by members of the class to send to the American Kennel Club (AKC) and MMI Genomics. They will receive a comprehensive set of DNA profiles for parentage verification and genetic identity purposes.

Students eagerly greeted their classroom guests from Dassin Farms for the activity, which has become an annual event in Mrs. Ledman’s classes.
