The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office March 20-26, 2020. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 218 calls during this period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

March 20

4:53 p.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Beaver is hanging out in parking lot by a sewer gate. He may need help finding his way back to retention pond. Advised the beaver should not cause any problems but he can respond if there is a problem. Security did not answer. Deputy will check. Beaver went back into the sewer. Looked like it was eating something.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

March 22

2:18 p.m., Hidden Springs Drive, Munson. 25-year-old daughter is drunk and is being violent. No weapons. Unknown what she was drinking. Unknown drugs. This has never happened before. Husband also is in house. Can hear screaming in the background. Spit mask placed on female. See report.

March 23

7:58 p.m., Woodiebrook Road, Munson. Caller states mom’s boyfriend is verbally abusing her, keeps telling her she is ugly and worthless. Male may have been drinking; no weapons. Caller said she had an argument with mom’s boyfriend over her taking her mother’s vape pen. Both parties argued and called each other names, but there were no threats of violence. Parties agreed to separate in the house for the night.

DRUGS

March 21

1:01 p.m., Nicki Lane, Hambden. 22-year-old male on meth since Tuesday night and now he is coming down. He hasn’t slept since Monday. He wants to be physical, but has no weapons. So far he is not being a problem. Son and father were verbally arguing over son’s alleged drug use. Son agreed to pack a bag and leave. Advice given.

FRAUD

March 23

4:52 p.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. Caller found a number on Google that she thought was for Spectrum Cable. She called the number to move her service to her new residence and spoke with a foreign subject who identified himself. During the conversation she provided her name, SSN and date of birth. A short while after the call, she began to realize something didn’t seem right. She called the number back and was now getting the run around and was told there was no there by name she gave. Caller given advice to watch her credit reports for suspicious activity and possibly check into locking her credit to prevent any fraudulent accounts from being opened.

HARASSMENT

March 25

3:18 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Male is harassing caller on social media. Caller blocked him on everything. Male possibly lives in South Carolina. Caller does not want anything to do with male and has been blocking him on all social media sites, but he just changes his profile and reattempts. Caller asked if there was anything that could be done legally to stop the requests. She also asked if restraining order from 2013 would still be in effect. Caller advised she would need to contact the court that issued the order to find out if it is still in effect. Deputy also provided advice on situation.

INJURED PERSON

March 26

6:49 p.m., Old State Road, Parkman. 30-year-old male list a finger trying to hold a rope that a horse was dragging. Squad to handle.

LOST PROPERTY

March 26

12:33 p.m., Colchester Drive, Auburn. Resident wished to report her lost ring. She wanted to give her information in the event someone turned a ring into the GCSO. She lost her ring sometime around March 15. It is a wedding ring set. Ring and band are fused together. Ring is made of white gold and includes three diamond set. May have been lost somewhere in Newbury area. She recently visited Dollar General and Sunrise Springs Water Company, and contacted them without success. Caller estimates monetary value of rind at around $5,000.

OVERDOSE

March 22

2:31 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. 25-year-old male heroin overdose. Trouble breathing. No Narcan in the home. CPR in progress. One dose of Narcan administered. Second dose of Narcan administered. Third dose of Narcan administered. Report taken.

SUSPICIOUS

March 26

5:28 p.m., Madison Road, Thompson. Checking a possible homeless encampment behind the township garage. There is a generator and other items back there. Deputy located the encampment; appears to be on private property. Follow up to determine if it is definitely.

THREATENING

March 20

6:06 p.m., Fairmount Road, Newbury. Female in the lobby to report her ex-husband is threatening to kill her. Report taken.

March 23

2:45 p.m., Daniel Lane, Hambden. Male is threatening caller that he is going to beat him up. He has four other people with him. Male wanted payment for Xbox controller. When Google Pay didn’t go through, threats made to come to house. Complainant resolved situation before deputy arrived.
