Burton Village Park

The Burton American Legion will lead a modified service consisting of a short speech, placing of the wreath, gun volley and taps. Afterwards, there will be a military march with the honor and color guard only to Welton Cemetery, where a second, short service will be held.

Chester Township

Chester Township Cemetery

May 25 • 10 a.m.

The community is invited to the Memorial Day Observance Ceremony to be held at the Chester Township Cemetery on Chillicothe Road.

The ceremony will be held rain or shine, and social distancing will be practiced.

City of Chardon

Chardon Cemetery

May 25 • noon

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will conduct a memorial service honoring veterans who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The public is invited, and social distancing will be practiced.

Huntsburg Township

Memorial Day service has been canceled. Flag and markers have been placed on all veterans graves.

Montville Township

Memorial Day is canceled, including the pancake breakfast.

Munson Township

Each Memorial Day, Munson Township Trustees hold a live ceremony honoring township veterans. However, due to COVID-19, trustees will be pre-taping the reading of names of those veterans interred in Munson Township cemeteries.

State Sen. John Eklund, R-Munson Township, and Pastor Roy Williams also will participate in the video, which will be available on G-TV on Memorial Day morning at 8:30 a.m. on Channel 1020 or online.

Newbury Township

Newbury American Legion Post 663’s Memorial Day assembly, parade and afternoon cookout will not be held.

Post 663 will proceed with the grave decorations of fallen comrades on May 23 and its traditional cemetery services on May 25.

There will be an 8:30 a.m. service at South Newbury Cemetery followed by a service at Munn Cemetery at 9 a.m., Newbury Center Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. and Newbury Veterans Memorial Park at 11 a.m. A post everlasting will be held at the post home at noon, where a cemetery service will be held at noon.

Russell Township

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Russell Township Veterans Memorial program held at Briar Hill and Riverview cemeteries is canceled.

Flags will be placed on all veterans’ graves and flowers by the flagpoles for  the traditional Memorial Day.

Residents are asked to take a drive through the grounds to salute veterans from different wars.

South Russell Village

Annual Memorial Day parade canceled.

Thompson Township

Memorial Day activity is canceled.
