The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 19-25, 2020. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 363 calls during this period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
June 19
4:32 p.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. Caller found a loose cow. He needs help getting back in the gate. There are more cows inside the gate that keep trying to come out when caller opens it up. He will be at the neighbors. Cow returned home.
June 22
8:57 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Caller is upset someone is trailer park is trapping feral cats and taking them to a horse farm. Caller is upset male will not tell her where the farm is. Caller referred to trailer park manager. Advice given.
CITIZEN ASSIST
June 23
9:34 a.m., Woodlawn Drive, Newbury. Snake is in his laundry room. Snake removed.
11:14 a.m., Burton Windsor Road, Middlefield. Would like to speak to a deputy about someone spraying something on his wildflowers. This has been ongoing issue for four years. Believes it is his neighbor. Caller thinks he is spraying Roundup on them.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
June 19
8:25 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Caller said people called him a “ni@@er” and flipped him off. They have threatened him in the past. No weapons, no intoxication. Caller told deputy he was on Springdale and person gave him the middle finger and caller him a “ni@@er.” He also advised when he was driving down the road two people were standing at end of driveway and called him “ni@@er.” Caller said there are 11 families in the neighborhood that are racist. Deputy explained to caller to call housing about the families. Deputy spoke to one of the female subjects. She admitted to “flicking” him off but denied calling him a racial slur. A male subject said caller came down the road and swerved at him and yelled at him that her was calling the police. Male denied calling caller “ni@@er.” Subjects said they have ongoing issues with caller. Deputy explained to them that if it is observed them calling anyone a racial slur, they would at least be charged with disorderly conduct. They told deputy they understood. Caller denied passing female subject on the road and denied swerving at male subject. Caller told to avoid subjects as much as he could and if there are more issues to call GCSO.
FRAUD
June 20
12:26 p.m., Chanticleer Court, Auburn. Caller is in the lobby. Needs to file fraud report. He sent $1,800 thinking it was part of a Dr. Pepper promotion. Caller received a text stating he won a Dr. Pepper promotion via text message. They wanted to send a check for more than he won and then send them the difference. Advice given.
2:24 p.m., Indian Hills Drive, Auburn. Was scammed for $1,400 worth of eBay gift cards. Report taken.
June 23
3:35 p.m., Rosetta Drive, Munson. Caller is concerned about a fraudulent call where a man told her he was sending a taxi to take her to the bank because she won $2 million. Female said caller wanted her to send money in so she could win the $2 million. Caller is aware the caller is fraudulent. Advice given and female did not give any money.
HARASSMENT
June 20
8:32 a.m., Nicki Lane, Hambden. Caller advised his son was released from prison recently for some kind of sex crime. Upset because neighbor is posting flyers in the trailer park with son’s photo that say: “Wanted: Out of Here.” Male who is posting the flyers is a “drug dealer” that caller is trying to get to move out of park. Report taken.
8:32 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Occurred yesterday neighbor called me a “ni@@er.” Now sister is on the line from lobby saying Cloverdale is “racially violating him for 20 years.” Deputy advised he had spoken to and warned subjects involved on the use of racial slurs. Middlefield PD took a report this morning and a citation for reckless operation was issued to driver involved. Deputy told caller and sister to contact GCSO for extra patrol on Cloverdale at any time.
OVERDOSE
June 24
11:36 p.m., Highland View Drive, Munson. 25-year-old male possible heroin overdose. CPR in progress. Page sent. Male has history of overdose. Caller states there is some form of white powder near him. Male revived with Narcan. Possible drugs also located. Report to follow.
SUSPICIOUS
June 19
6:35 a.m., Claridon Troy Road, Troy. Caller advised approximately a month ago he received a text with some disturbing photos. Caller has since deleted that message. At 3:10 a.m., caller received another message this morning stating something about the caller being investigated. Deputy advised. Caller advised to block the number on his cellphone. If messages continue, advised to bring his phone to Verizon to clear any viruses.
June 22
8:06 p.m., Henning Drive, Chardon. Caller saw neighbor unload a new Holland tractor and then pull it into the woods and cover it. Caller is afraid it might be stolen, but does not want deputy to make contact with male. Caller does not know his name.
THEFT
June 20
8:20 a.m., Fox Road, Auburn. Someone stole “Black Lives Matter” sign from her yard and threw banana peels on her driveway. Sign stolen sometime last night between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Caller wants incident documented. Extra patrol requested.
TRAFFIC CRASH
June 19
4:55 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Car vs. buggy. Two occupants in the buggy. Both are out. Buggy in ditch. OSHP not available. Two injured transported to hospital. Horse injured. OHP to follow.
