Monday Morning Breakfasts

The Farmington Senior Center has resumed Monday Morning Breakfasts with a full menu from 7 a.m. to noon. The center is Covid-19 compliant. Masks are required and guests will have their temperature taken at the door.

Reservations are recommended, but not necessary, for parties of one or two; call 330-889-2733 . The center is under new management of Linda Evans, director.

Kiwanis Summer Concert Series

July 22, 7 p.m.

The West Geauga Kiwanis Club Bandstand Summer Concert Series continues at the gazebo in Chester Township Park with the Chardon Polka Band performing everything from polka music to Queen and comedy with audience participation.

In the event of rain, concerts will be canceled. Kiwanis encourages the standard Covid-19 precautions with social distancing and masks are recommended.

Audubon Resumes Bird Hike

July 26, 8 a.m.

Blackbrook Audubon resumes its monthly bird survey at Beaty Landing, 543 East Walnut Ave., Painesville. Meet at the larger, lower parking lot.

Blackbrook plans to monitor this site on the fourth Sunday of each month until March 2021. If the assembled birders number greater than 10 people, they will split into two groups to facilitate physical distancing. Wearing masks is optional, but binoculars cannot be shared.

DTJ Chicken and Duck Dinner

July 26, 12-2 p.m.

DTJ Taborville is hosting a chicken and duck dinner at 9850 North Blvd., Auburn Township. Cost is $12.50 for an adult dinner and $6.50 for a children’s chicken dinner. A half duck dinner is $17.50.

Enjoy music by Anthony Culkar from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Czech beers are available at the bar.

HomeGrown Geauga 2020

Aug. 7, 7:30-9 p.m.

Geauga Growth Partnership’s annual HomeGrown Geauga fundraising event is going virtual. The live streaming event features pre-party entertainment, videos and live interviews. Join emcees Scott Mihalic, auctioneer, and Kimm Leininger, president and CEO of GGP, for an evening of silent and live auction, $5,000 cash raffle and entertainment.

VFW Aux. Breakfast Raffle

Aug. 9

Chardon VFW Auxiliary is serving breakfast from 9-10 a.m. followed by a $500 raffle at 10:15 a.m. Breakfast includes pancakes, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, french toast and more. Donation is $15.

Geauga SWCD Fall Fish Sale

The Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual fall fish sale will be held on the midway at the Geauga County Fairgrounds. Orders are currently being taken for fingerling-size largemouth bass, redear sunfish, yellow perch, bluegill/sunfish mix, channel catfish, white amurs and fathead minnows. Pond safety kits and farm pond management books are also available.
